He thinks they were always torqued properly and just backed off over the 500 miles and you should have checked earlier/upon delivery.

if it had been one i might have thought so. but with the degree of looseness
and such a short time its impossible. i have never seen a lug nut this loose
except when i hand start one and then did nothing else.

So nobody is accountable above him to train, supervise and enforce that he's doing his job correctly? Nobody is sharing responsibility? I don't like excuses they stink like assholes and opinions.

How are people blaming Toyota? Wheel locks aren't installed from the factory. They were either done at the port or at the dealership. And they should of been rechecked at the dealership before delivery

Possible they did back off. A lot of people are afraid to over torque locking lugs because the key or lug can get stripped or break. Easily could of been under torqued and backed off

These ones were on the sticker and they had the same paint as the rest of the truck on them, so I believe they were from the factory.

The PDI person and his supervisor would be to blame. You originally said Toyota third gen quality control, which is incorrect. This has nothing to do with the third gen or even Toyota quality, this is at a dealership level. The correct statement would have been Toyota (enter dealership name here) quality control. This could happen on a tundra, 4runner, or whatever else. I know you have had numerous issues with your truck, but not every issue is third gen related, or even Toyota related. Toyota corporate didn't hire the PDI guy, the dealership did.

So Toyota has nothing to do with their dealerships. Got it.

I think some of what you wrote were another posters comments not mine. But I hear you, the dealer should have caught it at the PDI, provided they checked it.

As far as a safety issue, my friend must have broken 2 or 3 out of his 5 studs on his old caddy wheels and somehow still drove around everywhere so even with one or two out
I am likely not in danger.

Still a good looking truck and no ecoboost to worry about.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe that wheel locks ar installed by the dealer and not at the factory.

The point is, this is not Toyota to blame. This was the actions of dealership. Had he bought the truck at another dealership he would not likely have had this problem. Now if during some training session a member from Toyota corporate came out and said, guys, no need to check lug nuts on new vehicles, they are all good from the factory, that would be Toyota to blame.
If you go to McDonalds in your city and they didn't cook your fries all the way, is McDonalds in general to blame, or is that one location to be held responsible?
I understand that you got a bad truck and you hate Toyota, but don't you also a have a 4runner with no issues?

As usual....whole lotta of "Hot air" and BS... OP asked a ????? :censored:

Dealership installs wheel locks;simple......somebody dropped the ball and MAYBE left these loose ...

The "idea" of someone boosting your wheels; locks are 1st to go...we have 7 vehicles out back on concrete blocks....windows smashed out to "find" the wheel lock keys and two just had the locks broken off....stud and all :curls:

My PDI girl is NOT my lowest paid as she has EVERY new delivery in her hands....

OP, get on your dealer about QC, BUT DO NOT BE AN A$$......freebies are easy to comp to customers who understand $hit happens and let us correct it..

I have job security as I work for the" 4 letter" 4x4 dealer.....even NEWBIES need work before delivery.....be HAPPY you own a TOYOTA ;)

Yes mcdonalds is ultimately to blame. Absolutely. When some knuckleheads in the air force took off with a bomber with live nukes and flew it across the country everyone in the chain of command was fired up to 3 and 4 star generals. Were those generals even within 1000 miles when the mistakes were made that allowed this to happen? No. But they were ultimately accountable for the actions of those below them. Yes an insanely extreme comparison but the basics of accountability still apply. If you don't understand you may want to Google the definition of the word.
