Need your ideas Tacoma World

I am a criminal justice major in college and about to finish my third year, my only problem is my loan has run out and I need some ideas on how to make some money for tuition.... I know I know get a job, only problem with that is I'm a scholarship athlete "30% paid for by school" and I have 4 hours of practice a day and I'm traveling weekends so I have no time to work, I have applied for other scholarships but something with my athletic department at school says if I'm getting an outside scholarship then they will transfer my athletic scholarship to someone else..... bull shit I know! but its the policies..... so any ideas....... and over the summer I'm working an internship but that will not help me that much with funding.

 

Maybe a personal loan from the bank.

Try for an outside scholarship then. If it's better than 30% then it will help. What do you mean your loan has run out? Do you file a fafsa?

 

You might have to decide between whatever sport you play and staying in college (meaning drop the sport and pick up a job).

Put it this way - unless you're slotted to make money at playing this sport in the future - in 20 years it will matter far more that you graduated college than it will that you played a sport for 3 years in college before dropping out because you ran out of money.

If you graduate with a useful degree, you can have job offers waiting for you if you play your cards right.

I'd take that over a coach in Europe wanting me to run track. Is there any money in track at the professional level?

 

yes, I have a job lined up with a local police department when i graduate as well... i only have one semester left i plan on graduating early. I would make more running in europe but i would much rather work for the police department and make the community a better place and help people.

 

this is gonna sound harsh but sell the taco and get a bus pass for now

i have some good news to share with yall, i basically told my coach that i was going to another school if nothing happened with my scholarship money, in turn he raised my scholarship substantially so no more need for ideas or a bus pass!!!!
