    Hello,

This is my first post on the forum. I just purchased a used Tacoma X-Runner and I am the third owner.

I am having problems with my key. It's a black key with a small dimple at the base of the blade. I presume this is the master key. The key starts the engine, but will not open either door nor will the key fob work.

I swapped batteries with the fob and it still will not work (does not open/close doors, no panic).

I did some searching on this forum and it seems that I may need a new fob and master key which means stealership prices. That's life.

What I do not understand is why the doors will not open, the key will not even turn either lock! First thing today I will go to Home Depot and buy some graphite powder in hopes that may help. Perhaps the key cylinder is simply stuck after no usage with the physical key?

Can anyone give me the highlights of what the dealership will replace if I need a new master key? I presume key, fob, and some reprogramming. Does anything need to be replaced other than those items?

    Thanks.
