    What's the most reasonable amount of money to have when retire? If I keep like I'm going I'll have about $350k in my 401k when I retire by myself. Wife will probably have close to that also.

    @Acerwin the goal is to draw monthly against your retirement, at a rate that allows the principal to still grow.

    Ex. If you want live off 1k/month- you can retire earlier. If you want to retire/ live off 10k month- you need lots higher income, for a longer period of time- delaying retirement.

    Live as cheaply as possible. Also, you may set up a roth ira- this is kinda like a regular 401k, but is POST tax. Ie.- you pay normal payroll taxes, then you can invest up to 5k/ year. With draw at retirement tax free. 401k is pre tax, so you get taxed on your monthly draw at retirement. And NEVER do a 401k loan, never ever.
