I have my buddy's 2nd generation 4 cylinder, manual Tacoma. I'm taking it home to him, and to recover my prerunner, but a problem has emerged. For the last couple of days, his truck won't crank until I get out and shake or rock it back and forth. Anybody able to tell me the likely cause of its reluctance to start? Thanks.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
See if you start it without shaking it and pressing the clutch start cancel button

All good stuff. Never heard of "clutch start cancel button" before. Thanks, everyone

If it's an automatic, try putting the transmission in neutral and see if it starts before deploying the rock and roll solution.
