Depends on your definition of high-end body and if he literally means a mechanical shutter of some kind in/on the viewfinder. I've never looked at or noticed such a feature on bodies > $2k because those are well out of my price range. However, every Canon I've ever owned (Elan IIe, 300, 20D, 70D) comes with a plastic or rubber piece on the strap that's designed so you can take the eye-cup off the viewfinder and slide it on instead to cover/block any light from entering that way. Dunno if Nikon does the same, but I thought they did.

Kind of. On an SLR there is a mirror that sits at an angle between the lens and sensor and directs the image/light up to the viewfinder. It flips up out of the way to expose the shutter and sensor, but up or down, light still passes in from the viewfinder because the mirror in the up position doesn't completely block the viewfinder off. The reason you wouldn't have that issue with a mirrorless is because the viewfinder, if there is one, has a completely different light path than the lens so theoretically the sensor box only has one 'hole' in it (lens) instead of two (lens and viewfinder).

Note that covering the viewfinder is only necessary in special circumstances - really long exposures, bright lights behind the camera, using heavy ND filters during the day, etc. Most of the time the amount of light coming in through the viewfinder is insignificant. http://photographio.com/cover-viewfinder-long-exposures/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/photograph...k_your_viewfinder_when_taking_long_exposures/ are interesting examples/reads.

It's kinda pretty art, but yeah, someone needs to check their printing registration/alignment. Or something. Fail on the n in Wisconsin too.

    Would, or wouldn't?

Weathertech, because when I got mine they were decidedly better than Husky at the time. Don't know about now. Never heard of Wade, and OEM? You mean the flat ones that are no different than the cheapy universals you get at an auto part store/Walmart except probably cost more than the mold they're made from?

Good info! On my Nex6, the viewfinder only turns on when you put your eye up to it. When you pull back, it activates the display.

@2016spicytaco I have the Husky floor mats, they are awesome. They have been full of dirt, mud, melted snow and carpet is beautiful underneath. Too bad they didn't have a full interior liner.

I'm not electrical, but I live with a guy who is, and based on pictures/events he's shown me before I'd say that's exactly what it was. Loose connection in the terminal/pin not plug, just as Yama said, started arcing. Could have been defective from the start, could have been damaged after install if the wire/plug were affixed in such a way that connection was the stress point.

Toyota has been changing things around from what I've seen. I (2nd Gen) have three dials and two buttons - fan, temp, vent, a/c, recirculate. I don't think that recirculate comes on by itself if I turn the a/c or defrost on and put the fan on max. My mom has a 2015 4Runner, whatever gen that is, and on that I discovered that if you turn the temp dial all the way cold, it automatically turns the a/c on if it wasn't already AND engages recirculate. Which you can turn the recirculate off again immediately after, and doesn't come on by itself unless you go to that max setting like you say. But on my truck, recirculate is completely independent from all other controls if memory serves.

Also, I'm a guy who's had the defrost crack a windshield. Freezing rain storm a couple years ago, had a small chip in the windshield down low. Drove across town so the interior was warm, spent 20 min at most in a furniture store, came out and ice had formed/slid down to the bottom and was refreezing. Roommate was with me, so given the weather was already fogging the inside with the ice on the outside and I had two pieholes instead of one in the truck, I put it on defrost max fan and had left the temp dial all the way up. Five minutes down the road, really loud pop that took me about 30 seconds to diagnose as a near full with crack appearing across the lower windshield. Since then I never max defrost with the temp dial more than 3/4. Ever.

It makes more sense if you know that the 'legal' definition of 'missile' is basically any thrown object.

    Hey ladies and gents!

Apologies ahead of time, because I'm certain that I asked this question before. Where might I find an alignment shop familiar with aftermarket IFS on the northwest side of things? (I'm in Westminster)

Thanks in advance. I promise to write it down this time!

I do recall there being more play than I expected on some of the terminals. Some clicked in fine, others did not, but they got a little better when the two connectors were together; guess it wasn't enough. Being that they were made and rated for winches, I figured they would be good to go. Lesson Learned.

I had mine done at SLEE off-road down in Golden. Pricey but they did the best job I have ever had on an alignment since I've had the truck. I think it was $115.

Mountain lion was spotted on CSU West campus today. Somebody got a pick, I'm trying to get ahold of it. I basically live on the edge of West campus.

Animal Control and DOW have been notified. Security staff at CDC was able to photograph this. Please be careful and be aware of your surroundings year round as you come and go on the Foothills Campus."
