TPMS not reading (blinking yellow dash light) issues

Alright, searched the threads, hopefully I was just dumb and this answer has already been posted somewhere I couldn't find it. Taco 2015 DCSB.

Isuse: every 24 to 48 hours, yellow low tire pressure warning dash light will blink (not reading a sensor) then go steady yellow (still can't read a sensor). Yes, all tires are at correct pressure. (If low tire pressure, yellow light comes on steady, if can't read a sensor, yellow light blinks then comes on steady). Scangauge doesn't read the dash error lights as "codes" so can't clear with the Scangauge. Have brought to stealership several times, they can clear the light using their TIS, but, according to stealership, all sensors are reading just fine and they cannot explain why light is on. TIS continues to inform that sensor ID 2 (passenger front) cannot be read, but, oh by the way, that tire "reads" 39.5 psi and 78deg. In other words, ECU is complaining that TPMS ID2 cannot be read (yellow blinking dash light) yet ECU reports reading information from TMPS ID2.

Clarification needed from those smarter than I am on these matters:

    1) TPMS ID's should read, from driver front, in clockwise fashion ID1, ID2, ID3, ID4, from front left 1, front right 2, back right 3, back left 4, correct? I get different answers depending on which mechanic at which shop I ask.

    2) On some cars without TPMS, they use the anti-lock sensors to determine low tire pressure (low pressure spins slower than high pressure, and if in a straight line, must be a flat). Does Gen2 Taco's use the anti-lock sensors in conjunction with the TPMS low pressure light in any way?

I recently "removed" the front passenger wheel (ID2 if I'm correct on my numbering) by snapping the lower control arm uni-ball bolt on a, uh, rock. Long story, involving quite a bit of whiskey the night before. Anyways... My ECU is complaining that it cannot read ID2, coincidently the one I snapped the lower arm off (top ball joint remained attached, but when lower ball joint bolt snapped the outer tie rod wrapped itself around the shock coil, axle removed itself from from the differential, and inner tie rod got nicely plucked from the steering rack, it was an exciting hit). I purchased five brand new OEM TPMS sensors from the stealership and had all five tires dismounted and new TPMS sensors installed, trying to eliminate those as the problem. Found out that while the TIS software has slots for 5 sensors, it actually will only actively accept programing for 4, (5th reads N/A) so the TPMS in the spare was a waste.

Stealership has reset the yellow dash light several times, they cannot explain why the ECU would complain about not reading ID2 yet give readings (psi and temp) from ID2. I'm thinking there's a connection between tire psi, anti-lock sensing, and that stupid frickin' annoying yellow light.

Anyone know anything about the anti-lock system? Did I rip a sensor or receiver off the front passenger side that I didn't notice laying in the dirt trailside? Is the anti-lock somehow tied in to the TPMS warning light?

    Any forum help much appreciated!

Did you check the spare? Some vehicles don't read it, but my 07 Tacoma does. Can't say about the 15's. I get the light when the spare gets low and it goes off when I air it up.

Interesting about the spare! And good info for others. My '07 wants five TPMS readings, just like yours, but my 2014 and my 2015 only want four sensors, they totally ignore the spare. Confused the crap out of me when I went to replace the 2015 wheel on the spare (busted in uh incident with rock) and hey, wait....no TPMS in the spare? Stealer didn't have a clue either, they had to walk the lot with their Snap-On sensor (Toyota does not make TPMS reader) to verify that Gen2+ (what I call 2011-2015) only read / want 4 sensors, NOT 5 sensors. Go figure. Rumor has it the Gen3 will actually give psi per tire, all 5? And by 2018, all US vehicles will include psi per tire readouts as mandatory stock OEM. Meanwhile, my stupid yellow blinky light....

Thank you MarshallR, for pointing out that this is indeed year specific.
