meh, at times I hate warranty.
When I got my jetta I had nothing but problems which were constantly fixed under warranty and they kept recurring.
Once warranty ran out, I paid my mechanic to fix it and never had another problem again.

Honestly as long as the engine and trans hold up those are my biggest concerns. and neither this trans or engine are actually new. It was used in Lexus for a year before tacoma.

Toyota are usually pretty reliable, I'll take the risk and get a 2017. Really doubt there will be that many issues.

Bought a late model 16 and truck has been great. 0 issues to date. Not all trucks have problems. The guys that do have them are the ones you hear from. Plenty of very satisfied owners.

I like the Tacoma, but I should have waited until they worked out the bugs. Some of the bugs are quite significant.

Did the Lexus 3.5 have direct injection? I know those pumps can be $$$ if they fail.

I do believe it is relevant. Most of Brad's posts are about the trans.

dude then count your losses and trade it in?
Seriously you and smitty love to complain about the new trucks.
if its so terrible get rid of it and go complain on another forum of whatever vehicle you get about the problems you have.

I get its a piss off that there are problems but really you and a few other members need to give it a break. If you really find the vehicle that bad get rid of it. Each one I see around town I pull up beside them and ask them how is their new one. Not one person has said its shit. Its just a few on this forum seem to think its shit.

Yeah, this forum is crazy full of haters. Almost worse than the macbook pro forums. Should I buy? Should I wait? Such luxuries. Such time on your hands. Such first world problems. Go hug your wives and play with your kids. Get up and get into your sweet truck and drive to work. Get psyched on payday and pay all of your debts on time. Go grocery shopping and listen to good music. Every once in a while let something random inspire you. Prioritize good, quality, days. Breathe in this crazy air on this anomalous planet let your cells expand. Seek nature. Seek happy nights through happy days. Be psyched that people invent and build things that you can get passionate about. It's impressive that anyone can ever get anything done. Remember your Dads. Remember their trucks. Reevaluate what you're putting out into the world. Reevaluate what you're doing here. Shoot yourself.

I've read about all the bugs people have listed and I don't recall having a real issue with any of them

Just saying I never once questioned if I should get mine. And I love mine haha.
No issues at all, and it beats the shit outta my old HP for running torq for my DJ gear and doing video and photo editing.

    But spot on otherwise.

Man, the intolerance here is quite remarkable.

Does anyone here doubt that if we had more engineers like Brad and Smitty on the Tacoma design team we'd have a better truck.

I'm a career engineer and most of you haven't a clue what it takes to design, build, test, val/ver, and release a product.

    Just show some respect.

The 18 will be nearly identical to the 17 just like the 17 is nearly identical to the 16
