A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
I like the Kryptec camo look. Not a big fan of camo, but the Kryptec looks good. Gives more to the pit viper kind of look.

Here is the picture of the first one I made for my Tacoma, and I have a made a few changes in the design to not only make the entire mount 4 ounces lighter than the stock plastic mount while being just as strong and the first one.

Ok, might have made a mistake....looks like Compton 4 wheel parts isn't having an event after all this weekend. Will keep you posted when it happens.

I like the simplicity. I think I will make one too. Is that 3/8" and 1/8" flat bar. My home floor drill press has a 8" travel x and y axis table vise on it. Going to pick up some aluminum and dig up some taps and an end mill. Just going to make it without the long slot. So much better than the bulky plastic one. Great idea.

Get in truck with key fob and hold lock and unlock at the same time for like 6 seconds. Done.

Read above. But it might only work for proximity keys now that I think about it.

hey @Fatheadcarl, Pardon my ignorance and stupid question, but how in the world does one do fishing with a fishing rod attached to the front of the truck? I'm sorry bro for asking, but I am not able to wrangle this setup in my brain. I see that you desire to carry your cooler with the cooler rack in front of your truck instead of your nice truck bed (googled it to find out what that is). Sure whatever. So do you attach your fishing rod to the front with a bait and drive around the beach?? Obviously can't be true? (though as awesome that sounds) Is it? :anonymous:

I did a similar mod on my 2nd gen. There are existing holes in the metal just for clearing the screws. I installed Riv nuts into the holes, drilled bigger holes in the plastic bumper cap and used longer bolts.

Took the truck in for it's 5k service at CABE in Long Beach, CA with mixed reviews. I didn't want to be "That guy from tacomaworld" but Kenny, the service advisor said he used to be on TW and asked if i was on the forum...I reported R to D delay as well as harsh up shift from 1-2 and he mentioned there was an ECM flash for it, I didn't have to bring up the TSB. I asked to have the fluid level checked manually, and he said it wouldn't be a problem saying there's no other way to check it (good). He also said that none of the trucks they'd checked ever came back low (bad). I also mentioned howling from at certain cross winds from under the truck.

So i dropped off the truck 9/12 at 5:30pm and let them have it overnight so the engine could cool. He said he'd call when the work was done in the morning. WELL, by 2pm i hadn't heard anything so i gave them a call, kenny was busy so i left my number so he could call back. I called them back at 3 and was able to talk to kenny who said they'd checked the fluid level, it was good and that they were going to do the ECM flash. However, they couldn't recreate the howl, so i told him it was from the LCAs and there was a fix for it. He said he'd talk to the tech and call me back.....

.....I called back at 6, both he and the tech had gone home for the day, and someone had forgotten to call me....

It feels like the flash was done, and i think they checked the fluid based on my pics:
    IMG_6348.jpg <-before
IMG_6353.jpg <-after (dirt's smeared like something was turned)

But i didn't get a sticker under the hood.

The invoice printout said "could not recreate howl, may need tech ride along with owner" ...at that point, they'd had my truck for 24 hours and it was closing so i took my truck and went home.

TL,DR: Got 5k service, ATF fluid level checked, ECM flashed (no hood sticker), but LCA howl unfixed. Bad communication from CABE service.

I am looking at a CB install and I'm looking for a good place to mount it... Right now, I'm looking at the space right in front of the shifter, where the wireless charging pad is. If I could just remove that assembly, I should have plenty of room to mount a Cobra 29 LX. As for the antenna, I'm going to get a 4' Firefly and probably custom fab a 90 degree swivel mount for car washes. Anyone else out there put a CB in a gen3?

Look up "surf casting" most anglers will set a couple of rods and sink them into the sand and drink beer. But with a cooler/rod holder you can skip the sand part and just sit in front of your truck.
