    why doesn't the 2014 Tacoma have overdrive switch? This O/D is terrible and engages too soon too much!!

    Anyone seen my wallet?
    Excuse my lack of knowledge but this is the first car I've ever had with "overdrive." Is it just lowering the shift points and using all 5 gears? 4 raises the shift points so it gets higher into the rpms? When I'm on the hwy trying to pass it feels like I'm never going to pass anyone in D.

    Overdrive refers to any gear that allows to transmission output to spin faster than the input. Been around since at least the 70's.
