4.56 or 4.88 gears?

    I went with east coast gear supply too because of all the positive reviews I read about them .

    I was not going to do mine for a while but since I blew out my rear end I'd rather just spend the extra money now and regear and lock my front . :)

    Well, as I said, cash is going towards LT right now, just picked up a 9" ford rear, so maybe in a few months when the wife is appeased with more house stuff I can pick up lockers and gears and get the 9" installed :D

    TC L/T, King shocks/bumps, F/R ARB's, RCV Shafts, glassworks fenders/bedsides.
    youll be fine with the 4.56, thats what im running with 35x12.50x17s (S/C 4L v6 auto trans) which only measure a true 33.5. i spin around 2300rpm @ 70.

    I'm supercharged with manual transmission; 35/12.5/17s... 4.88 gears. I havnt driven the truck just yet... It's a toy, not daily driver... I can't wait to make her scream.image.jpg

    IMG_2015.jpg I used this chart and gathered that i have stock 4.56 gears (a/tm: A04B). I plan on stepping up to 285/75/16 from 265/75/16 and was thinking I'd probably need to regear after and hadn't heard of a tacoma with stock 4.56's. Anybody know if this ratio is common on a stock '14 4.0 Auto? Oh wait just saw the bottom "'98-'00 models" maybe this chart is only for first gens?IMG_2015.jpg

    I ran both with 35s, I prefer the 4.88s. Less down shifting, more power (via RPMs), lose 2 mpg or so over the 4.56s.

    You do not have 4.56 gears. Period. Second Gens ONLY came with 3.73 gearing on all models except the 5 lugs that came with 4.10's IIRC

    The flip side to this is you lose alot of top end speed. 4.56 for the 6 speed on 35s is like the sweet spot for return to OEM gearing/power, looking at all the charts I can, 4.88s with 34s or 35s would park me at over 3k RPMs at 80! Right now I wanna say im down around 2600-2700 or so at 80 and it lugs pretty bad if I try to gun it, and that's with 295/75/16s
