I was reading a thread yesterday where it was mentioned that the 3rd gen sales were not particularly good. That simply is not true and these expansion plans show that the market is quite robust. In general vehicle sales are trending down. The availability of cheap financing has pulled forward a good deal of demand and overall sales will lag going forward. Ford admitted as much a few days ago on their quarterly conference call. But the light truck market is doing very well. It will be interesting to see how long that lasts and of course we hope it does because it will keep our resale values higher. Resale value for sedans and crossovers is about to tank with a large number coming off lease.

They need to worry about improving quality control first and foremost on the third gen Tacoma. Quality over Quantity!

For resale, we don't want production increased. My salesman bragged about how so few Tacos are made every year, I wanted to call bull shit, as every one knows if there is demand and the company can manage production increase, they will..ITS MONEY!!

Sales are trending south on everything but the new Iphone 7, but as long as new car/truck prices keep trending up, re-sale value should continue to stay strong.
As far as quality is concerned it's all shitty across the board, with some worse than others. I would hope smitty99 would buy a Ford ecoboost and deal with the valve carbon build up and head cleaning every 20k and he would really appreciate his '16 taco.

    Cheers!

Sales are good however Toyota has lost market share. That is a given because even if GM sold only 1 Colorado for a year that means Toyota would have still lost market share. That being said, after the initial boom in sales after the gen 3 launch, Toyota is selling less Tacomas per month than a year ago with the gen 2.
I don't understand the fanboydom on this forum. People will outright defend Toyota's honor even if people have reasonable gripes.

That number is somewhat deceptive since the entire market was at an all-time high then. And the 3rd gen is still averaging 16-17K per month. That's on the high end of what they have ever sold or averaged, even in a current down market year for the entire industry.

Analyzing numbers is not being a fanboy. I am not defending Toyota and agree that increased production may in fact lead to even more quality control bungles. The fact is they are selling 3rd gens at a very healthy pace. It is clear that some quality control issues exist. But if you look around with a bit of a curmudgeonly bent you will see that overall quality is down in every industry. It is about cost savings and planned obsolescence. Of course it is a very negative trend but the reality is everything we buy today is not designed to last as long as the things we bought a decade ago and they were not designed to last as long as the things we bought 2-3 decades ago.

Insist on getting things fixed but it is almost unreasonable in today's environment to expect anything to be perfect. I agree that is lamentable but it is irrational to ignore the world as it exists. The best we can do is adjust and adapt as best we can.

I still like my truck though and wouldn't trade it for a Colorado.

I wouldn't trade it for a Colorado but I may be trading it for a 2018 Ford Ranger

Me neither! Been there... done that. Now come next fall when the Ford Ranger rolls out, all bets are off! Just hope it does not look to much like a Colorado.

When shopping for my truck, I didn't even step foot on the FORD lot, just couldn't bring myself to do it. That said, I spent 5 minutes on the local Dodge lot, but thats because they have Jeeps there as well.

I did check out Chevys a couple of times, but in my eyes Yota has what I want, a mid line pickup thats fun to drive hard on the back roads, will cruise on the highway and is good around town. Yota was a win, win, win in my book. I am disappointed to think their quality is suffering though, so I hope to they square that away.

OR ecoboost 2.7 would be awesome? Also heard they're looking at diesel options to step their game up over GM twins
