    First of all, my truck is a toy made for pleasure/fun. What would you guys do? I'm leaning towards the Turbo 400 with a full Manual reverse pattern because that is all I see people doing. Am I crazy to think about putting a Tremec 6 speed Magnum into the build? image.jpg

    Depends on your preference. As well as gear ratio options. Me, I'm a Magnum guy.

    If everybody else is doing a TH400 that should be reason enough to use the 6 speed, IMO.
    But it is your checkbook.

    @RYANBORN

    Auto - go with the 6L90 http://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/gm-transmissions/myd/

    The auto will hold up to better to prerunning, with the constant loading and unloading of going through whoops the viscous coupling absorbs the shocks loads well.

    If you try and run hard with the manual you will break the gear you use most, probably 3rd or 4th. It won't be immediate but will happen.

    If you're dead set on the manual and want to spend a ton of cash on it go with one of these. http://www.fortinracing.com/product87.html or these https://weddleindustries.com/transaxles/albins-st6-transaxles/st6

    Those are the new hotness in trophy trucks.
