THANKS!!! just for future reference for anyone that looking at this forum this is what came up on the list...

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2012 and 2013 Toyota tacoma and lexus rx350 vehicles and certain model year 2012 Toyota rav4 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the brake system contains a brake actuator that adjusts the fluid pressure of each wheel cylinder. An electrical component within the actuator may experience an increased resistance resulting in the illumination of various warning lights, including those for the vehicle stability control (vsc) system, antilock brake system (abs), and traction control system.

FMVSS 110 S4.3 requires that a placard be affixed to the driver's side B-pillar with the tire size and vehicle manufacture's recommended cold tire inflation pressure for front, rear, and spare tire. The vehicle models involved left the assembly plants with properly affixed placards that met the requirements of FMVSS 110 S4.3. In the affected vehicles, accessory wheels approved by TMS were installed at vehicle processing centers prior to distribution to dealers or by dealers prior to first sale. Wheels installed at TMS processing centers were equipped with LT tires. Some dealers may have installed the same tire type as used at the processing centers.

From the NHTSA:Are there any limitations on my right to have a recalled vehicle remedied at no charge?
Yes. There is a limitation based on the age of the vehicle. In order to be eligible for a free remedy, the vehicle cannot be more than 10 years old on the date the defect or noncompliance is determined. Under the law, the age of the vehicle is calculated from the date of sale to the first purchaser. For example, if a defect is found in 2003 and a recall ordered, manufacturers are required to make the correction available at no charge only for vehicles purchased new in 1994 through 2003. However, consumers should realize that even though manufacturers are not obligated to remedy safety defects in older cars, a safety problem might still exist. If you receive notification of a defect on a vehicle older than 10 years, take the responsibility to have your car repaired at your own expense – and eliminate unnecessary safety risks.

Most manuf. will still honor a safety recall if the parts exist though.

Don't forget, a recall is not the same thing as a Service Campaign or TSB.

Anyway, in this case, no recall that would apply to his '13 is close to expiration.

I thought, wrongly apparently, when the recall comes out you have so much time to get it remedied unless it is a safety recall.

That brings up another point. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a recall that's not a safety issue.......... There may be, just can't think of one.

There have been non-safety recalls.... every year up to 2014 has had a recall for a howling rear differential. Unfortunately for me, my 2014 rear diff howls and Toyota won't do anything about it. It's very alloying, I've got my fingers crossed that they eventually come out with a TSB.

I have a 2013 and havent had a recall on the rear diff, nor does it make any noise. Do you mean a TSB? That's different from a recall. TSBs are non safety issues.

Auto recall "An auto recall occurs when a manufacturer (or the NHTSA) determines that a car model (or several models) has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal safety standard."

So what exactly does TSB stand for? And if so how would I know to go get it taken care of?

When I had my jeep I bought it in 2012 and it was an 07 and I still got mail for recalls or a TSB. For example before I sold it I got a recall for my ignition switch. And just went in and Chrysler did it and that was the end of it.

So should I just watz in the dealer and see what's up? Have them take my vin? Then they can see if they need to do anything for free

TSB means Technical Service Bulletin. You wont get a notice for a TSB because not every vehicle is affected and the problem isnt a safety issue. TSBs wont always be free if you are out of warranty period. Recalls are free regardless of mileage. You could ask the dealer about any TSBs. There is also a site, Toyota Owners that is a site run by toyota. You start an account with yiur info and truck info. It will keep you up to date on any problems with your truck.

Welp I don't have warranty for it anymore. So I was just curious cause I was going to add the Toytech 3 leaf for the rear lift and was just seeing if I needed to change out my leafs but I guess not

    Thanks for the info guys

The rear leaf thing you are talking about was a recall. I do t think it involved 2013s. I just did the same lift in the rear with the 3 leaf on my 2013.
