After a long absence on TW I'm back.

I lived in Jacksonville FL for 3 years, and met alot of guys from TW down there. After i graduated from school I moved back up to Atlanta, right around Kennesaw. I had a 2010 AC and finally got it set up just about how I wanted it. I got a job that was 50 miles 1 way from my house, and found out I was going to be a dad so I had to get a vehicle with better gas mileage and more seating room.

I've always been a huge fan of hot hatchbacks, so I bought a 2013 Focus ST in Tangerine Scream at the end of February. It was fast, fun, and the color stood out for miles. Only problem was the engine started to sputter and lose power with only 33,000 miles on it. I got a full time job with my Army unit just down the road from my house, so my 100 mile a day commute dropped to about 25 miles. I started kicking myself for selling my truck.

About 7 days before I was scheduled to go USASOC Jumpmaster School in Salt Lake City, Utah I brought my ST in to get a full service under warranty. Turns out it needed a whole new engine. So SVT approved my new engine and installed it a couple days after I left for school. Then things got interesting.

I received a phone call monday morning that my ST was involved in a wreck, so I think a little fender bender, not a big deal. Maybe ill get some new rims or an SVT exhaust for the trouble. Turns out my car was wreck at 11:55 PM on a Sunday at a know street racing spot well away from where it was being serviced. The service tech who had my car died, and the car was totaled. Not what you want to hear when your at one of the hardest schools the Army has to offer.

Long story short, I turned down a new 2016 ST and was able to get a new 2016 TRD Off-Road for the remainder of what my loan was on my 2013 ST.

So now I'm back in a Tacoma, and can start re-modding it :bananadance:. New lift, new exhaust, and hopefully another Homertaco grill, if he does the 2016's I havent looked yet.

    Glad to be back

Thanks guys, it was stressful but being out at Jumpmaster school I just let my lawyers handle it and made out well.

Loving the 2016 so far, but I miss the old 4.0 my 2010 had. Feel like it had a better sound and pickup than the 3.5

Welcome back! That seems to be the normal reaction from 2nd gen owners. I never had one so it doesn't bother me. It seems to have enough acceleration when I need it and I like the gas mileage. I had a Ford Escape for 10 years so the new truck was a pretty big upgrade and I really like it. I haven't towed anything heavier than a jet-ski yet. I plan to get a 2k lb off road camping trailer in a couple years once I finish adding some armor.

I worked as an intern with them while I was in law school, and the two of them are good family friends.

Wow, that sucks he died. But I guess serves him right.
But what was he doing racing a brand new engine.
So many bad choices that guy made in such a short amount of time and it lead to that.

Congrats on the new truck! & welcome back!

That's a pretty crazy story. Can't believe he was dumb enough to take it home and race it. I would of been pissed, but hearing he died is pretty sad. As long as you got a good deal out of it for your troubles.
