Anybody with a 3rd Gen want to share your experience with a tonneau cover? I'm in the market and I'd like one that I don't have to worry about rain.

I have a truxedo lopro, nice cover and seals up pretty good. You will need to seal the front header up better underneath the front rail of bed

I juse got mine the other day, and after some trail running, the bed was all sorts of dusty. When I washed it today, the majority of the bed was still dry, but there was some leakage from the cover. I don't know how it handles in rain yet, but that is my pressure was my experience.

You won't have to worry about the rain with this cover. I was wanting one but took the cheaper route and bought the http://www.autoanything.com/tonneau-covers/60A1587A0A0.aspx also. Whichever you decide to buy get a tailgate seal also.

    https://www.amazon.com/TruXedo-1703206-TruxSeal-Universal-Tailgate/dp/B000BKKUSQ

There are Youtube video's you can watch for putting them along with most tonneau covers on your truck.

Is the tonneau that Toyota sells Toyota built or outsourced? Seems expensive even compared to the highest end hard/tri-flips around.

I think I remember reading the Toyota cover can only be factory installed- not available for purchase after it leaves the factory, if that is what you are referring to...

Oh perhaps that's why it lists it as installed only. Well never-mind then.

I ordered from PARTSENGINE.ca in Canada a BAK Industries BAKFlip MX4 Tonneau cover. You do need to get your installation correct to avoid water leaks - thus I have to do a complete re-installation. It was in the side rails where I did not get them perfectly at 90 degrees. BAK Industires have been excellent in going through the installation and have sent some additional parts to aid in the installation.

I got the rugged tri fold, a little expensive but I haven't had any issues with mine.

I have the G4 elite tonneau cover. Expensive but no leaks andI like that I can open it from either the cab or the tailgate.

I have the gator soft trifold cover, I love it for the price. I never bothered with the tailgate seal and have no water intrusion issues, and that's saying a lot for someone living in South Florida.....

    For a little over $200 I am not complaining.20160611_150009_dd21f586ec969f0ce0808427267dca3b86b329cc.jpg

I have the e series rugged cover which is basically the same as this.

I love it. I go through car washes with mine and hVe no issues. It's super light and removing it is a breeze.

I'm getting an A.R.E Color match LS ll on Wednesday. I've had two before on other trucks and very satisfied. They're secure, lock like a trunk and I've always had luck with no leaking. The only down side is they're about $1,200 bones. I bought it at a truck accessory store that also sells numerous makes and models of the foldable type too. I looked at all of them for a minute because of the price point and versatility. I almost went that direction until the sales guy tells me that none if them are very secure and they all leak. I of course don't know first hand about any of that and maybe it was a case of sell the most expensive cover. Good luck

I bought the Extang Tri-fold from AutoAnything 5-6 months ago and have been pleased overall with it keeping water out. Took it through the carwash and got a dozen or so drops on the front bed wall that borders the cab of my 2016 Access Cab, but that was it. It's been through a rainstorm or three and also extremely minimal water spotting near the rear gate. The cover has a rubber seal with four layers so does pretty well keeping out the water.

I have the Leer Trilogy, hard tri fold. Little rain comes in near the cab. Love the cover.

I have the factory cover. Works great. One flaw however... you have to keep your tailgate locked or it can be easily stolen.

Just installed Bakflip F1yesterday and it is one sharp cover. Have not seen it in rain yet but in Hawaii weather wasn't a factor on choosing it but more for style and function. I researhed for a year before buying it and been new Tacoma owner for a month now.$.02
