I carry a Streamlight Stinger HPL everyday for work and it's never let me down. I've dropped it on concrete numerous times, used it as a hammer, got it wet; no issues.

I've got a cree xml t6 zoomable from china and I love it. Cheap but still reliable, and really bright. The zoomable head on it is great.
They make multiple versions of it. I got both a shorty and the full size. Had issues with the shorty, along with it not being as intense, or battery not lasting as long, duh. But the "full size" that uses two batteries is perfect.
    Shorty
    full size

Also got 2 "protected" 18650 batteries, as I found the generic ones that arent protected tend to peter out.
    here

And then the nitecore i2 charger.
    here

But this is just what worked for me, and I'm sure theres lots of other good lights, including way better ones depending on your budget. But for ~$50 for all that is a pretty good deal. The charger itself is awesome. The protected batteries are pricy but WORTH it compared to crappy generic ones you might get with a flashlight from china and their crappy charger that fail too often. Flashlight itself is great. Holds a long charge especially if not on full brightness. Gets a little hot on the full brightness setting. But havent had any issues with it. Been dropped a couple times. Also there may be better prices on the items I listed. Those were just the first ones I came across. There's way too many items for flashlights on ebay.

Fenix pd series, if you aren't d familiar with 18650s buy the combo with a charger. Beware cheaper lights that generally have a crappy throw. This one is Incredibly bright in small form factor, without a larger head, unlike other offerings. Better if you want to edc in civ wear. The ones with the larger head will get left a t home or in the truck, this one you can carry everyday clipped in your front or back pocket of your jeans or whatever, without looking like a dork. If you buy the batteries seperately buy panasonic. Beware flashlights with usb charging they have low quality built in chargers and the batteries will suffer.

What is the main use of this light? There is no one light that does it all.

Nitecore All they way. And I used to think Surefire was the best and they were. I think Fenix are pretty good and almost similar to Nightcore

I believe their P12 is the number one selling flashlight. This kit has the 18650 Battery which is the same size as 2 CR123, but more powerful and rechargeable.

My retired Dad has been doing some ride around with the local Police Department for some volunteer work. He takes the Nightcore P12 I gave him..and every cop he has ridden with is amazed by it and wants to buy one.

18650s are approximately 2x the size of cr123s, the P12 is similar to the fenix pd series in size, I'm just a fenix fan I own a half dozen of their products and haven't had any failures.

I'm not familiar with this model , but fenix also offers high quality feature laden single cell AA and AAA models as well. My backpacking flashlight is the ld02, one AAA , and the clip can be reversed to fix onto a hat with a brim. I saved alot of weight over my petzl headlamp, even with carrying an extra cell.
