Hey all, I'm looking to upgrade the lights on my truck. Right now all of them are factory. I'm into high end products, but also kind of a noob about off road parts. If anybody could give a description of what kinds of lights they are running/why, thay would be super helpful (head/fog/light strip all applicable, I was planning on doing headlights/fog lights first). Thanks!

I have a 2017, after looking around a bit, I've only seen things for 2016, and I wasnt sure if those products are compatible or not

Search in this forum and the group buy forum for: RSI PLATINUM LEDs

These are very close to the color of the LED DRL lamps so all the lights will be the same color and a lot better lighting.

I recently installed these - I highly recommend them. Your search should find many folks here running them with you-tube vids and pics and reviews.. its all here.

The Morimoto lamps; I read/heard mixed reviews shaking and loosing brightness over time. The RSI lamps are the sha-diggles cats meow. You're gonna like em, I certainly do. Check out the group buy and see if you can still get in on it. Never hurts to ask right?

your lights are tied into the can-bus, fucking with it can open you to a host of problems. can-bus doesnt like changes to the system. my suggestion, add on LED pods/bar, it runs fully independent of can-bus.

I honestly don't know what peoples issues with the factory projectors are. They work well.

Okay, so does everybody like LED over other types of lights?

That response likely coming from someone that never tried LED headlights??

The stock bulbs use A LOT more electricity than the LED lamps do.. likely a factorial amount more .... say 5vdc for led and 55vdc for the stock bulbs....so in essence the electrical system is loafing along running the LEDs - oh and its A LOT brighter.. again maybe even a factorial again.. hard to argue with result. Just sayin..

Yes I do for sure... you will agree as soon as you hit the high beams and its daytime for 75-100 yards in front of you. You will never be able to out run those lights I pointed to.

I want good lights, but I hate when I am driving towards some one and am blinded, so I feel there needs to be a happy medium.

I have the Opt7 led lights. Same pattern and coverage as stock, just a lot brighter.

Oh wait.... I'm confused again. ... to the OP the LED bulbs are inside the stock light enclosure and that has a cutoff so the light goes down onto the road.... now the high beams are another story altogether. My truck it lifted and I don't get people hitting high beams at me.

Ok checked the LED specs @ 12vdc the LEDs draw 1.5A so thats about 18watts...

The stock bulb is 55watts... yeah so a little shy of 3x less work being done by the LEDs.

Now the Lumens is another story altogether. The LEDs are far more efficient. just sayin...

Has anyone of you notice on the 3rd gen when you walk by your truck at night, the interior lights automatically turns on and shuts off when you walk away? The car is still locked. Must be a safety feature?

    For headlights:

If you want the best lights possible, you retrofit some upgraded projectors in place of the factory ones, then add another set of projectors to the high beam spot for a quad projector retrofit. Or you can leave the high beams as halogen for no "warm up time"

LED kits are still not as reliable as HID kits, nor as bright. Some people on here will argue that LEDs are brighter just because they think so but it's just not the case yet. The reliability of LED is also not as good as hid. Maybe in another 5 years LED will be caught up to hid.

As for me I will be upgrading my 16s stock projector to a lexus rx350 with clear lens, denso ballasts and CBI bulbs. As for the high beam, I have not decided if I am going to leave it halogen or stick a mini h1 in for a quad retrofit. Then I will use the morimoto toyota LED fog lights simply because they are a direct fit, won't blind people, are decently bright and the color temperature matches CBI bulbs rather well.

For headlight bulbs, HIDs are the best and brightest
I would suggest getting some higher temp (brighter bulbs) for your stock projectors are see how you like it

Did you install them in your high and low beams or just your low beams? I'm considering doing both if possible. And could I put them in the fog lights? I have uploaded a picture of the set I believe it's the same as yoursimage.jpg
