I have a 3rd Gen stock trd sport, and I am fairly new to the 4x4 world. I am looking into getting skid plates and sliders put on for some protection. As far as skid plates what are the most important areas to cover, I saw that RCI has 6 different plates covering 6 different areas. Are they all very necessary? Also what brands would you recommend and how does this affect the 4x4 capability before getting a lift and or tires?

Sliders. Mounted on or Welded on? Favorite sliders? Go!!

    Thanks guys!

Sliders are certainly the most important thing and will prevent the most costly body damage. I went with Mobtown Offroad because they make a bolt on one that is sufficiently strong. I like the idea of being able to return to stock if I need to. Welded on would be stronger assuming the welder was competent.

The most important skid plate is for the exhaust crossover since it is the lowest part on the truck but it you don't have the transmission plate in front of it a rock could catch on it and bend it back.
