Hello everyone, New tacoma ownwer here. I picked up 2015 tacoma 4x,Trd offroad. I noticed something while decelerating such as slowing down to a slower speed limit, say 20 to 35 mph. It seems like the tranny (automatic 5 speed) is slipping as I back off the gas. I tried it setting cruise to 30 and it does not do it. Hard to expliain. It is really noticable when you are going down a slight hill or decline. Any one have this?

Do you notice any change in RPM or any other symptoms that might help diagnose what is going on? Is it only when you're applying the brake pedal? Can you be more descriptive about what "it does not do it" with cruise control means? <-- As in it will not maintain 30mph in with the cruise, or the symptoms you're talking about do not occur? More detailed description the better diagnosis Tacomaworld can help with! Good luck!

Is it more noticeable when going downhill and slowing? When slowing on a flat surface I dont see it, but when slowing and going down hill, the AT will downshift and it can feel a little abrupt. My truck has done that for the 4 yrs Ive had it, and as far as i know it is normal.

Ok, Like I said it is tough to describe. I really notice it after slowing to say 30 from higher speed like 55. Foot is on the gas and I am simply trying to maintain the slower speed. It is also noticable when going down small incline/ hill decelerating to the slower speeds. I thought tranny slip at first which is why I tryed it in cruise. I set cruise at 30 and cannot feel any of it . It seems to me like a hesitation or cut out of the throttle. Do either of you know if these are "fly by wire" with no linkage to the throttle body?

I only notice it with foot on the gas. Not the brake.

My guess is it has something to do with that. I thought it maybe a characteristic f the truck but bugs me so thought I'd see if anyone else expierienced it.

My 13 is the same. I just came from a Cherokee Trailhawk with major trans issues at 33k miles. I feel every shift in this truck since I'm hyper aware. I don't know it's an issue though, seems like just oddish behavior from an AT.

I think what you are feeling is the trans holding back the truck when you take your foot off the gas (kinda like an exhaust brake or "jake brake") slowing the truck down which all a/t tacoma's do, if you want to defeat the system just click the shifter between D & 4 & back and that will stop the trans from slowing the truck down when you let off the gas.

Tried the D to 4 and back thing and it had no effect. Talked to Toyota today and will get it looked at. Only other complaint is cruise will speed truck up 3 to 4 mph over set speed on hills. I've had cruise on a bunch of Fords and never saw either issue. Love the truck tho.
