I like your tool box . What are those handled thingies on the lid ?

 

They are shaped the size of the hand hole of the saw and twist to release the saw. Simple way I found to store my old Disson panel saws.

 

Haha , no I was just kidding , I don't use hand saws too much anymore except for japanese pull saws

 

Those are nice. I couldn't imagine sharpening one of those so I stick to good old American spring steel back saws and pannel saws. I do a lot of handsaw work which requires a few different back saws and pannel saws.

 

What tasks would you rather do with a handsaw in particular than a powered saw ?

Dovetails, crosscuts, tennon a, lap joints, dados, angled cuts are easily done with a handsaw on a stout work bench with a holdfast.

 

How are you cutting dados with a handsaw ? One cut on either side and remove the waste with a chisel ?

 

Built a table for the wife last weekend. Now to stain & finish it!

 

Thats right. I'll also use a poor mans router, drill a hole at a 45 degree angle with my brace drill and hammer the chissel down and adjust the depth of the chissel to clean out the waste. To me it takes less time doing that than it does setting up a jig and getting a router set up.

Sadly I don't get to do much actually woodworking any more. Most of my time is spend designing pieces to get built.
