Can you describe the vibration? I would like to try to help if I can. Is it the same vibration that occurs if you floor it off the line?

My fantasy trucks are Ford F450 Dually crew cabs. Other than that and the Chevy 4500s I don't have any need for the Canyon/Colorado etc.

That said, I rode in my friends new Colorado for about 20 minutes. Non diesel. And the truck was very very nice.

Nah. I've had a BMW with many problems. That doesn't make me feel better about the problems on my $40k Tacoma. Issues are issues regardless. You want the car or truck to run right, not vibrate, howl, shimmy or shake. You don't want excessive road noise or Crankshaft Position Sensors failing you on the side of the highway. My BMW was in the shop every month too but I am no less troubled with my Toyota having the issues it has. You can't dismiss one over the other for somebody else.

hahahahahaaaa...hah. (FYI, that's a deranged laugh of sadness coming from a broken husk of a man who has had to work on German cars...)

/This is an Audi but the concept is the same... multiple timing chains on the BACK of the engine, meaning you need to pull the whole thing out to replace them. Service life on the chains and guides?
Audi says LIFETIME, owners see about ~75K, worst case ~50K. Next time you see a sweet Audi sedan with a V8 up for sale, RUN. Parts for this job alone are 1K, labor is like 6-7K.

Ugh, just thinking about doing simple service makes me want to pour myself a stiff drink. Over-engineered nonsense everywhere, and assemblies-over-assemblies meaning you have to take the whole car apart to get at what should be a simple task.

Anyways, it's a shame to hear Toyota corporate's representative shit the bed on a valid issue. Not trying to downplay that. Hope you manage to get it sorted, or failing that, get into a truck that you're happy with!

No, it's not the same. I'm not sure how to describe it, besides theres no vibration once you let off the gas or hit the brakes until you're in that speed range. Then the steering wheel, the pedals and seat all vibrate. Almost like a rumble strip. Sometimes it's bad enough the truck almost hums.

    Did you buy it new?

Carson California. I ended up buying elsewhere but still had to wait months for the vehicle.

Bought it brand new. And yeah... most all of my repairs were covered under warranty. But owning a car for nine months and being without said car for damn near four of those nine months sucks a big rubbery one.

What I find frustrating is the inconsistencies with Toyota attempting repairs. One guy goes in and gets new leafs and shims for this issue. The next is told it's normal.

Some guys get new rear diffs for the howl, I get told it normal by a Toyota corporate tech.

I just can't understand the difference.

This, exactly this is why I'm so pissed off. Even if they attempted something to address the problem, regardless of whether or not it worked I'd be happy but apparently that's too much to ask. As such they're losing a customer and I won't recommend them to my coworkers. I know it's chump change to a billion dollar company but it's still a dent.

All vehicles will have issues. Especially new designs bit fix them for your customers Toyota. I guess 10 years of rusted out frames should have been our indicator of Toyota service.

    Did someone mention German engineering?

One of many reasons you always get rid of a German car before the warranty runs out.

Wasn't it the 1999 era A4 needed the whole front end taken off just to do the timing belt?

I have a VW so I am well aware of the labour intensive jobs they require.
But I still love Audi and VW. Not sure if I'll ever own another though. Just not suitable for my line of work. I need a truck and like going camping and such.

Can you have corporate escalate the case? The people, in the customer experience group, seem very dismissive. I did not like that group. I went over their heads.

it might cost a few dollars, but if you could get copies of the toyota work orders on some vehicles with the same troubles, it would be worth paying a few members on here for a copy of theirs when they picked up truck, because it shows fixes that were performed and what the customer stated what was the problem and what was found, then make another set of copies and send them certified copies to the dealer and toyota corporate, and show them there is a pattern of problems, and have someone contact you, when they do, offer to have them buyback your vehicle, fix it to your satisfaction or maybe start a class action lawsuit, say its up to you

I would have asked to take a test drive in another truck, then ask why the other isn't doing it. Make them show you its normal in other trucks.
