Transfer Case problems

My name is John Borrero I live in South Florida. Back in December 2015 I purchased a Tacoma 2015 4 x 4 truck from an auction in Texas. The auction said the truck had a mechanical problem and it had never been in an accident. The truck looked like bran new and had 3,250 mile only. Well I did not want to buy a truck that had been smashed up so this looked good. I won the auction with a 20,500 bid, I figured that what could it have that could not be fixed with 3 to 4 thousand dollars. Well I found out after words that the truck had been hit by lighting, to the story short I have changed out a bit of electrical parts to get the truck to where it should. My final task is to get the 4 x 4 working I am told that I need to change the complete transfer case because the motor is burned and it need to sync with the transmission to work. The truck for the moment is running like a champ in 2 high which is fine for regular drive, you can turn the select switch on the dash and nothing happens. Can someone tell me if I can change out the motor and actuator only without having to spend 1,850.00 buying a complete transfer case? The gears in the transfer case are new, the truck has 8,500 miles on it, I cant see having to change out the whole thing.
