Two different trucks for different jobs - I also have an '07 Tundra that I use for "heavier" hauling. My travel trailer is about 7800#'s and the Tundra does just fine pulling and gets between 9 & 11 MPG. It has been literally trouble free for 9 years and 64K miles, almost all towing. If I didn't have the Tacoma, and wanted to be a "one" truck family, it would be a Tundra.

My father in law has a 2014 Silverado with a floor shift, but I'm pretty sure you have to get a strippped down model.

To the OP, how often will you actually be towing that much? I've got a 2.7 as well and it 90% of what I need it to do.

For the 3 days a year that I need to tow something big its cheap enough to borrow/rent a full size truck than the extra payments and insurance on a bigger, more expensive truck.

Sure my FIL spent about the same on his base Silverado as I did on my Tacoma and it gets 22mpg on the highway, but it gets like 15 city and is a headache to park.

If I have my way once the Tacoma is paid off we'll have a Tundra as a second vehicle. It's tough deciding between the long box access cab or just dealing with a migdet box on the crew max.

I've owned enough modern vehicles to know that while the competition does certain things better, overall it's still tough to be a Toyota.

Why not just have the Camero shipped, drive it up to AK, or rent a vehicle to tow it? Buying a truck to tow when you only plan on towing with it once or twice is crazy.
