Officially... Considering I don't tow much, I would go up the 3 turns as discussed previously on the driver's side rather than down 3 turns on the passenger side to have the perfect unloaded rake. My front is dang near dead level with the rear 2" high. Throw 100lbs in the rear of the bed and she sits perrrrfect with 1" rear high rake. Just a note.
Still the best ride of any vehicle I've ever driven, period.

    Update:

Progressive AAL's have settled after many weekends of hauling ~1k lbs of guns, ammo, and gear. I retract previous statements. 3 turns down on passenger side is the ticket if you do progressive AAL's. I will post new pics after the new rear plate bumper install this weekend. About to add 100lbs to the rear so she should sit dead level w maybe a 1-.5" of rake if lucky.
Bottomed out the driver's rear on that same creek crossing. Granted, I made it through, but dragged the p.o.s. factory bumper on the sandbar and twisted the shit out of it... Yay, no sheet metal damage and solid excuse to purchase new bumper.
Also, unless you are running high speed sand trails, I cannot fathom the need of the 2.5's in this neck of the woods. Been consistently running rough dirt roads for 1-2 hrs at a time at 15-30 mph and have noticed little if any fade. Truck is like riding on a cloud.
Lastly, noting that last statement, being able to turn up the remote resi's in the rear has proven worth it while hitting trails with a weighted bed. New pics to come.

P.S. To the two guys I saw today running 4-6" lifts with no mud flaps in GA... You clearly don't hardcore wheel your Tacos, squeeze bt trees, or get into crazy angles... Or get above 14 mpg on a good day haha! Looks nice though. Just my 2 cents

Thanks for the review. I'm considering going this route because of the rust issue with steel and the fact that I don't rock crawl so I probably don't need anything more robust. Could you please describe this process in a little more detail?

"Note 2: The Fox rear shocks come with large lower bushings that have to be pressed out and replaced with the supplied alternate bushings and metal inserts. We used a variety of sockets and a vice to make the switch, but know that this will need to be done."

Def go with the Fox's, you'll be beyond happy. I do recommend the 2.0 rears with the CD adjusters... have been playing with them since adding the plate bumper and now my "happy place is 5 clicks from the softest."

As far as getting the bushings out that come with the rear shocks, you will need a large table mounted vice and a set of sockets. Basically, you pick a socket slightly smaller than the opening on the shock that houses the bushing and one that is larger than the shock mount. Line the vice with a shop towel so you don't scar the shock mount, align the sockets and the shock mount in the vice so that when you close the vice it pushes the bushing out of the shock mount and into the larger socket. Hope that helps.

Note: New bumper on and will get new pics up soon. Wife got rear-ended pretty hard this week and been dealing with the aftermath... life. She's good though, helps being married to a doctor haha.

Awesome. Thank you. That helps alleviate any concern I have about pushing the bushings out.

Confirmed, they come set at 2". You're going to want to adjust atleast one side to account for the driver's side lean though. Reply back with how much lift you intend to add to the rear and will advise if needed, but basically this is what you want to do (requires about a minute on a spring compressor and an Allen wrench to adjust. Easy, just make sure you count your rotations):

If not lifting the rear at all, go three turns down on the passenger side. If adding progressive AAL's (1.5") and you don't tow often go 3 turns up on driver's collar and she'll sit close to dead level.

I got exactly 2" of lift with mine as they came, I used the 1/4" drivers side lean spacer as opposed to adjusting them and it worked out perfectly. 22" hub to fender on both sides.

Took the pic earlier, she's <.25" driver's side low (I went 2.5 turns down on the passenger side... Shoulda gone 3 full turns. Note earlier posts... Needs 3 full turns up or down depending on rear lift).
So the pic is today w/ the rear settled and I couldn't be happier. Fox rides better than anything I've experienced. Def worlds better than my buddy's Icon setup (granted, he has 700lb coils prepping for major bumper... I just love the Fox valving... Tight, but plush... Perrrrrfect for me).

Wow. Thanks! I got them started today but will finish putting them on tomorrow. Those bolts are rusted pretty good on there.

Sorry about my dumb questions, so they can't be I adjusted without a spring compressor? I put on Bilstein 4600 on the rear a couple days ago which added less than an inch (probably from being new) I'm new to suspension thing but TW has been more than helpful! Will keep posted.

Didn't realize you are running on the first gen Taco. There's still a driver's lean, but I just had Daystar spacers, Rancho 5000's, and longer leaf spring shackles on my old '97 Taco that my mother totaled (look at my photo album). Can't provide solid advice on Fox for the first gen to be honest. However, you will still love the ride I'm sure.

Great review man. I'm currently trying to figure out what direction to go with my lift. I think I'm sold on 2.0s, sounds like they will suit my needs. I might go add aal though since I got pretty new tsb leafs. I to don't plan on going in bigger than 265/75/r16s.

Got new EBC brake pads, Fox 2.0 coilovers, and Bilstein 4600 in the rear, and it's like driving a new truck! I got a 2 inch lift from the Fox 2.0's. Love the truck and the brakes are awesome too!

Appreciate the compliment there broski. Also, the tsb leaves sit 1-1.5" higher than the original pos leaves. Point being, if you go with the fox 2.0's I would go 3 turns down on the passenger side for a dead level truck. Also, highly recommend spending the extra $ on remote resi rear shocks w DC adjusters. Didn't think it was worth it until after playing with them and it's pretty crazy how much you can "clean up" how the rear handles w weight in the bed or when hitting the woods. Just my 2 cents.

I'm glad I found this thread. I was originally considering Kings, but didn't really want to spend over 2k for front and rear for the type of driving I do. Not only that, but the rear king shocks are designed to go on a truck with no lift in the rear and I have 2".

Has anyone had their shocks re valved for what kind of driving they do? Down South Motorsports says they take every shock apart and tune it how you want it, but it kinda sounds like they are pretty much perfect straight from Fox.
Also, I have a 3" lift in the front right now, so i'll be adjusting them for that much. Anybody have experience on how much that affects the ride? Everywhere I've read about other shocks says they will right rougher, so I doubt these are any different?

What kind of lift do you have on the rear?

Also, you can crank these up to 3", but you'll new need upper control arms to clear the coils and get alignment right. Also, Fox's are valved from the factory vehicle specific and ride like you're on a cloud. Lastly, because the eibach springs are not progressive like factory, it shouldn't affect the ride to crank them up to 3". I didn't go that high bc of the added strain on ball joints and CV joints... And not needing $450 UCA's.

Just a 2" block in the rear.

I have light racing UCA's now. From what I've read, the shock is what is progressive, but it's the springs that make it stiffer because you're adding more preload, which makes it ride worse. I guess I could get a little spacer to put on top for the extra inch.
