I admit I'm ignorant...so I'm looking for some clarification

With the same type and size of batteries, if the house battery has been run down significantly lower than the starting battery, won't the alternator (even with an ML-ACR) charge both? Would this, in essence, "overcharge" the starting battery until they are both charged (and at that point does the alternator's regulator stop providing voltage to them or just continue)?

Damn good question. Once the ACR connects, the starting battery should share its voltage with the house battery, effectively making it one large battery with the same voltage. Then, this one large battery gets charged as one. Does that make sense?

Matt, my system has been working flawlessly! I must admit I haven't fully put it to the test but I've put several miles on the truck and even some rugged trail running without issue.
    Thank you,

An update on my install as I don't fit the standard use case. My Prerunner is a pavement warrior so I wasn't looking for a dual-battery setup for power-hungry accessories like a winch or a fridge, but I have been in situations in the past where use of the stock truck accessories has depleted the battery far enough I couldn't start the engine (plus, having one of Matt's kits is just really cool!)

I needed to ensure I had starting power while isolating the rest of the truck, so I hooked the alternator/main feed line to one battery and the starter to the other battery. While I haven't done a real-world run-down test, I have been operating like that for 3+ months with no issues. The ACR does it's job and isolates the batteries when I've had the truck drawing power for a while, and reconnects them once charging resumes after the truck is started. I checked with Matt before doing so and while he said that was a non-standard approach he encouraged me to try it out and report back. Thanks for a great product!

Now that you've run for a while, any issues with weight distribution, or sag? probably not, but I'm just checking. thanks.

No problem with sag at all, but I have #700 springs on my Icons and even with the ARB and winch I notice nothing.
