All of a sudden my 2014 Tacoma quit reading texts and e-mails. The phone is connected and all the settings in the truck are set to read them but I get nothing. This happened once before and I had too many messages stored. I deleted a bunch and it started reading them again. That is not the case this time for messages or e-mails All the settings on my Galaxy Note 4 seem correct too. Also phone calls come in and I can place calls hands free.Anyone have any ideas?

Did you recently get an over the air update(AT&T) on your phone?

ATT sent ot a software update over the weekend and it totally wiped most settings on my.phone. all the APN settings and dropped my pairing with bluetooth. It would show it as paired but it wasn't, had to unpair it with the radio and then reconnected and all was well again.

Was something different about this update as it has never reset factory defaults like that(swirched to straightalk over a year ago).

Mine did that, the phone had changed the bluetooth settings. On your phone go to settings, bluetooth, and push the "i" next to the tacoma link, and make sure show notifications and sync contacts, basically all syncs, are turned on

I have Verizon. Last night I de-paired it from the Tacoma and then it would not pair. Both the Tacoma and Note 4 were seeing each other but would not pair. I will try it again this morning.

Update, my iPhone 6 will now read texts in my '14 Tacoma after the suggested enable. It will not however do it in my '07 Camry like my windows phone did. That is honestly the only thing that was good about the windows phone.

Well I went to my Verizon franchise store and the girl started by pairing it with her phone and it did, then went to my truck and found several of my old devices still paired as well as my Note and deleted the old stuff from the Tacoma. There was in fact an update on the phone about 6 weeks ago, and she said there were lingering effects even now. Long story short, she moved her magical fingers over my dash and phone and zip, pop, bang, zoom all is in order again.

How do you set up your Phone / Truck to read text messages. I have the stock Entune/SiriusXM radio and I have been dumbfounded on how to set up contacts and everything in the truck without manually having to put them in.

Mine automatically does hands free, read text and voice control when I comnect via bluetooth. If you turn media volume up you can also get voice navigation through the speakers using mapquest and such.

You have to pair the phone to the truck by going into phone settings. You can do it from the phone button under apps thru the set up button. You can initiate the pair from the vehicle or the phone. Both the truck and the phone must be "reading" each other.

    EDIT
Contacts and call history do appear when i'm connected via Bluetooth, text messages however, won't show up.

When I first bought my truck it had quit reading text and it turned out there were too many messages on my phone. I deleted a load of old messages and it worked again.
