Okay too tall. Yeah I wouldn't recommend modifying them.

Not a lot of easy options unfortunately. A few people run little foam bumps (daystar maybe?) that have a stud, and mount them to the frame so they hit more vertically.

I've got super bumps on the rear LCA location. They just barely touch at ride height, hit sideways, and deflect under hard hits. Going to figure out something different this winter. I believe several people have had success trimming them.

Was looking at the possibility of welding up a little mount of the frame so they hit further out on the arm like 2nd gens. After making that work, I feel like it would be easier to just make hydro bumps work.

At that point, people usually say "it would be a waste on a stock arm," or "it'll never work," yet the naysayers have never tried it themselves. Try it out and let me know how it works so I can copy it this winter. :D

TLDR: very little info on 1st gens compared to 2nds

FWIW, my plans involve cutting off the factory sway bar mount and building some sort of 'bump pad' in that area. Just very limited on space.

Yea it’ll definitely be something of that nature. Possibly even hydro if I’m going all out with bump plate/mounting etc but well see what the budget allows

    Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo........

Got the driveshaft back today. When I spoke to them on Tuesday they mentioned that an aftermarket midship stub was used and that's what broke. They've "never seen that happen before". I mentioned that I wouldn't have a problem paying the difference to upgrade to heavier duty components but they said it was the largest that's available before having to customize the whole driveshaft, carrier bearing and crossmember. Mentioned they were going to use a factory Toyota front shaft that they had laying around and make that work since it may be heat-treated and stronger then what they are able to get a hold of.

They dropped it off this morning, no charge, and sure enough it looks like a factory front shaft as well as a new carrier bearing. But now knowing there was a size difference on the splined pieces I decided to tear it apart before installing it on the truck to make sure it look beefier. Same shit. The factory driveshaft that came in the truck is 26 spline, the last one that broke and this current one is 23 spline with a noticeable difference in diameter. Maybe it's stronger? Maybe it's the same? I really don't care as I've lost all trust in the thing to be honest.

At this point I'm thinking of taking the truck to another driveline shop for a second opinion and possibly upgrading it if possible.

Oceanside Driveline was great with the customer service: sincere, eager the find a solution and turn around time. But having never had a driveline failure before and being back with the same size parts puts a bad stigma on the thing.

@1MK I'd for sure get a second opinion. Thx for sharing your experience.

My Tacoma is currently FWD too. I'm getting the DS rebuilt by local shop... All new stock components going in... Only came out to get worn CB replaced.

The guy rebuilding it won't let me modify it in any way lol. Said he owns 7 Toyota's. :). Been doing DS work for 40 years. Haha

Anybody on here have a 5th gen 4runner they want to buy a roof rack for? My frontrunner is too tall to fit under parking structures in LA. Kinda hard to go to work when you can't fit in the door... I'm going to take it off soon and swap it for a relentless rack. Losing 2.5 to 3 inches in height will be nice. FrontRunner makes a mean rack though.

Probably also selling my 40" lightbar if that interests anybody.

On another note, am I expo yet??

@ProForce I'll be all over that water system when I have some more cash coming my way.
