Received mine today! Unpacked it tonight to inspect for damage. It was packaged very well. No good pictures because It was dark out. I won't get a chance to install for at least two weeks. 14 weeks to the day from time of order to delivery.

Can you give us any info on price difference between the flat version and $500+ version? I've been on your site and am also wondering if I went with no colored backplate then there would be no backplate at all correct? Basically you would look through the lettering and see the radiator?

All that info will be available on Saturday . As for the backing plate all our grilles come with one if you choose no color option it's just the same color as the rest of the insert.

    on Saturday yes.

finally installed, took about an hour with help. 2 people make this a lot easier imo. anyway pics and questions for those that have this installed.

    1st : full frontal nudity
2nd : Is the painted section suppose to touch the black plastic? I don't remember this touching before
3rd : is the gap suppose to be this big, I don't remember it being this much compare to just below the red circle
4th : notice the gap compared to the 5th pic
5th : the gap lessens in the red circle and completely gone in the yellow circle compared to the 4th pic

can anyone comment on these areas? did I reinstall the grille incorrectly?

I have takeno my grille off multiple times and never had the alignment issue you are seeing. It's a fairly easy installation. I would take ithe off and make sure it slides in right before bolting it back down.

I just checked another blue sport on the dealer lot and its aligns correctly. I removed it several times and even had my son hold it while I threaded the slots manually for each hole and it still installs incorrectly. I don't know if the grille offsets that much or did I tighten to snugly on the bolts holding the grille insert. none are bowed since I made sure per instructions if tightened to much it will bow.

the only thing I can think of is the slight variance between the builds of the grille. I know in one corner of the grille that is ever so slight of a defect/blemish in the construction that in the grand scheme of things its not that much of a deal breaker. its not shipping damage as the black coating is perfect over the defect area.

edit : the only thing I can think of now is to remove the grille and install the surround without it and see how it installs and see if it exhibits the same issue or not. if it doesn't, then its the grille affecting the reinstall.

The insert is 14lbs and the lower part of the surround has nothing but clips holding it up so it will most likely sit closer after the install.

Id like to see this defect as I personally inspect every insert that leaves this shop. These grilles are gone over with a fine tooth comb so I'm pretty sure there is not a defect. The flange could be almost completely folded over without the coating changing or showing any damage.

its not that big of a deal to me that it sits closer, I was just wondering if I re-installed it wrong cause it looked odd since usually Toyota gaps between body panels is usually consistent and stuff normally doesn't touch if its painted.

as far as the minor defect, I could care less as you have to really look for it to notice it. all the warden cares for is that is look good and nothing is noticeable unless your using a magnifying glass. I wont be sending it back or worrying about a replacement. I am good with the product sent and happy with it as is.

but to satisfy your desire I will try to snap a pic and upload it here, but as of 2am its raining so I don't know how good of pic I can take to show it.
