My company does do tuition reimbursement... :pout:

I just really.. REALLY hate school. Lol

Dont get me wrong, I love learning, but I am definitely a hands on/trial by fire type of guy. I just jumped into Solidworks and machining and after a bit, picked it up and now here I am making parts for you fine people of TW

I make fixtures.. A lot.. already. Lol. That would be pretty sweet.

I've had my license for 8 years and haven't stamped a danged thing yet. But I'm in microelectronics and finding 3 other PEs in the field to write a recommendation when applying for other state reciprocity through NCEES has proved difficult. Two of my 3 recommendations came from MEs who I've worked with in the past. Only one other CS/EE I've worked with since 2002 has a PE.

BSME - 2001, MSME a few years after that from night classes. Got a job as a Repair Development Engineer for aircraft parts, mainly engine / powerplant stuff, right out of undergrad school and I've been doing it ever since. I did spend a year as the Engineering Manager at one shop, but decided to go back to plain old engineer so I could have fun again.

I'm new to the Tacoma. Seems like lots of engineers like the truck as well! I majored in Mechanical and work as a structural engineer on helis and VTOL applications.

I'm not sure if I can play in here or not lol. I'm a registered landscape architect in 3 states. Landscape architect's and civil engineer's areas of expertise are so similar its not funny. I'm the only RLA at the engineering firm I work at. I do plans and permitting for retail and commercial developments mainly as well as some construction inspections, rails to trails, parks and playgrounds, and one skatepark so far with the possibility of 3 more next year.

I know you should not have an issue getting a job around Pensacola, or even around Destin with Eglan. If you do look around Huntsville, AL. I worked on Eglan with the 46th test squadron c flight. If looking around Huntsville search for Cummings research park. They have a listing for every company in the park which is quiet extensive.

Thanks for the encouragement. I've talked with some of the ppl located in the Eglin area at our career fairs. Lots of cool stuff going on around there. I'm hoping that my being a bit older than the "normal" college grad, plus 10+ years of work experience (most not related to engy) will be a benefit.

I voted for MECHANICAL as it's the closest to me.

Have a BS in Plastics Engineering. Not many of us out there but a few schools like UMASS Lowell, PENN State and Ferris State actually do provide an accredited degree for Plastics Engineering. Plastic is Fantastic :)

Basically take a ME and add a lot of polymer material and fluid flow and heat transfer specific to Plastics Materials and that's me. Part design, material selection, processing and overall design for manufacturing that's my deal as a Project Manager at a custom molder.

Funny thing is I'm no longer working with the Plastics division in this company, I'm now working on THixomolding Magnesium (Mg) which is basically injection molding on steroids. High temps and pressures to fill the mold with Mg before it gets too cold.

Ok guess I better get back to work.

    "Plastic is Fantastic." LOL

Akron also offers a Polymer Engineering degree, IIRC.

Dad is a Sc.D. chemical engineer who specialized in polymers. Really fascinating stuff.

I'd imagine it's a pretty decent program, considering Goodyear is practically the namesake sponsor. Lol
