Your mall looks the same as mine. This happens everytime someone posts about rubbing/tires etc. someone always says I had to trim and do this and someone else says I didn't have to do anything. I can't tell you why or why I didn't have to trim, but I didn't. And I've taken that truck EVERYWHERE. Your rig looks great!

What tires/wheels are you running? Makes a difference

A lot. Check out my build page.
Running 285/75/16 KO2s on mine with the TRD "bead lock" style wheels. CMC, removed front mud flaps and did minor fender flare trimming on the back of the front fender flares.

That being said, I have more to do after this 4 wheeling season. At full flex in the rear, I have nearly ripped off my drivers side fender flare. In the back, I have Fox 2.0 reservoir shocks so plenty of travel. I however only have an add-a-leaf for springs. I will now be ordering AllPro Off Road's expedition leaf pack to get some more lift in the rear as well as getting some Bushwacker flares and trimming off the inside edge on those to allow for more flex without plastic rubbing.

I would also STRONGLY recommend aftermarket UCAs with some heft to them. It isn't about clearance as much as it is about keeping those heavier tires in alignment. I run Total Chaos uppers on mine.

I ran the 285's with the stock wheels for a while. I did have to use spacers but I eventually went to the TRD bead lock wheels which have sufficient back space so the spacers had to go.

Love my 285s but if you aren't in it with some cash to make the necessary adjustments....I'd stick to 265.

If you go 285 and are ready to make adjustments along the way though, you'll love them!

I'm curious, do you have UCA's and have you had your alignment checked out recently? I'm running 285/75/16 and when I first lifted my truck an got an alignment, I only rubbed a little and eventually not at all and wondered what all the fuss of rubbing was about. After I installed aftermarket UCA's and got a proper alignment, my cab mount is shiny silver from all the rubbing I'm doing. Come to find that without UCA's my alignment was easily pushed way out of spec again.....

Total chaos UCA's and alignment was lifetime so it got done after every wheeling trip and at least once a year.

I have the icon stage 2 with ucas. Didn't need a cmc or anything to fit 285s. I did get spacers though for a wider stance.

I have -12 Offset and 4.5 backspacing 18x9s on 285/65s. Only had to trim some plastic and it doesn't rub for normal driving.

FJ trail ed. Wheels. 5mm more backspacing. I bought spacers and decided against them and just bought FJ wheels.

Its dark as hell outside, but this is what i have on mine, if you want to compare sizing.

    - 3" iron man coils and shocks
    - has rubbed on UCA a couple of times (minor) when wheel is turned all the way and suspention flexes. Other than that, fine.

    Hope that helps :)
