    Fellow members:
    I recently had a mishap with my tacoma TRD off road that ended up being almost $6000.00 damage.
    At 5am in the morning I ran over a fence post wrapped in bob wire that fell off of someone trailer in front of me on the highway. Speed was about 55mph.
    The road was very dark and when it fell off I did not have time to avoid it.
    I straddled the post till it got to the rear end where it turned sideways and tore up the gas tank and cover, rear end pinion seal and brake wiring and assorted small bits and pieces.
    If the rear end had some kind of skid plate it would have passed on thru.
    Food for thought.

    Keep more distance especially in the dark.

    Sucks.

    Barbed wire.

    It's "barb" wire. As in, "barbed".

    @tcBob

    You had a chance to tie in his "2016 TRD odd road" vehicle description in.

    And you didn't.

    this is more or less how i totaled my last car just a few weeks ago. i hit a semi truck's wheel/tire which was sitting square in the fast lane on its side, and my car was lowered (VW R32). it launched the car, sheered off the front bumper, air dam, belly pan, and rear valance. it also destroyed the gas tank and exhaust.

    after that i would look into protection simply for road hazards, nevermind off road stuff. when you're 60mph+ and run over almost anything...
