    ...It is

I'll agree with you in that if ya don't know things for fact...
ya shouldn't stick yer nose in where it doesn't belong.
And should probably instead rely upon the professional to resolve your issues.

But this is not the case for me... I do know things
and I have owned my Tacoma since 2000.
I do most all of the necessary work and repairs myself.
Because I trust few to do it right.
And I will double check any and all work that is done to my truck.

Plus I paid for a service directly
not indirectly, because I purchased tires from their store.

When paying directly for a service...
I have a right to demand it be done a specific way.
My local America's tire and the management there agrees.

I was not rude, by literally standing over the tech's shoulder while working.
As generally OCEA (CA) does not allow that for saftey reasons.
But I did in fact demand that they do it over and do it right (my way).
The management agreed with me... and followed thru
ensuring that I was a satisfied customer paying for their services.

Most any good place of business will listen to it's customers
and know whom might know things... and those whom don't.
It's not difficult to determine who's an idiot and who's not.

It's not really rocket science... tho' maybe ego or feelings can get butt hurt.
Too bad... I paid directly for a service... and I know what I want/need.

Oh and this particuar tech was not an unknowing tech, nor lacking in experience.
Was just unknowing as to how to counter measure and make improvement.
The tech was likely in a hurry because time is money and management applies pressure
to the techs to get customers in and out quickly.

In truth... the average Joe knows little to nothing I'll agree.
'cause thinking ya know something is not the same as knowing.

Believe you me... I would do it myself if I had the machine in my garage.
But I can't because it's too damn expensive to purchase for the occasional use.

    -------------

As far as other folks complaints regarding vibration faults.
It could be that they were spin balanced improperly
using the wrong cones or backing plates.
But an experienced tech usually doesn't make this error.

Or there could be something wrong with a physical components
on the truck that are failing or causing the vibration.
An annual alignment could help determine if there were another fault
besides faulting tire imbalance or a services rendered.

I usually pay to have my junk aligned once every year (mileage dependant)
to ensure that my tire(s) wear well during their consumable life.

I've been to multitude of tire shops that failed to balance
a tire properly after multiple attempts were made.

I usually figure out what is being done wrong and request correction.
But if I can't... I find another business to do the work.

I have been going to my local America's tire store for years now.
Tho' they don't know me by name... (staff/management changes constantly).
They generally show consideration to me, for what I have proven to them,
in that I'm not yer average run of the mill consumer.
And I will pay more if necessary, to ensure that it is done my way.

Tho' I might agree that 90% of consumers know little to nothing.
And there's nothing worse then a know-it-all consumer
that pretends to know something when they don't.

    idiots piss me off too.

I didn't mean to insult you, my apologies if you interpreted it that way. I was speaking about the majority of people who hover and watch but don't know what's going on. The rant was Not directed at you.

Very true...I aired them to about 39 (front) and 37(rear) cold...at 90 degree ambient temperature. Truck rolls and rides well at this spec.
