I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma that will turn over but will not start. So far I have replaced both the fuel pump relay and the EFI relay. I have also replace the fuel pump. I brought the oil level up between the two marks in case it was a sensor for the oil level that would not let it crank. I have pulled a plug, placed it in a coil pack, put the plug against the engine, turned over the ignition and did not see a spark. Can anyone tell me where to go from here or if I have not done something right? Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the CEL codes? Something this bad will almost always trigger the CEL and store one or more codes that can be read with a scan tool (advanced or auto zone will pull the codes for free but that's problematic if it won't start so you can get to one.) The scan tools are cheap enough everyone that is a DYI-er ought to have one anyway.

You can always check fuel pressure to see if the pump is working. Sort of sounds like a crank or cam position sensor failure if there really is no spark. From experience, you ARE using the real Toyota key and not a wal-mart copy? :) That immobilizer is pretty clever and will kill both fuel and spark if you use a bogus key.

When this is occurring, is your immobilizer light flashing or off? If it is flashing, it may be the key or related to the immobilizer. Some Tundras have issues with their immobilizers

You need to check the code first to see if it is related to the immobilizer system. If the truck starts and then shuts off in about 2 seconds then it is the immobilizer/ECU sensing a bad code from your key. If the truck just cranks and does not start then this is harder to figure out. Based on my experience over the last 3 months it could be a wiring harness or the transponder amplifier.

Baughman, did you get your truck fixed? Interested in hearing what the problem was.
