What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

When I took my truck to Town Fair tire for my free rotations they took over an hour and there were about 7 bays available to use, only one other vehicle. I'm gonna have to assume that I'd get the same treatment when going in for other free shit. I thought it'd be convenient...

fwiw; it takes them less than 15 min of work and they manage to turn it into 3 hrs of sitting there drinking coffee and watching the alignment laser play on the wall...

I do mine myself and with a screw jack, 18v impact, a 12'' cinderblock and a hunk of 2x4 it still takes less than 20 min...

 

I swapped out headlight bulbs this morning with the Osram Night Breakers. The Tacoma still had the original Koito bulbs! 17 years old and were still working fine. I'm sure they had lost some of their brightness as that's inevitable. I'm keeping them as backups in the Osram case. It's a very nice hard case they came in. I'll be driving cross country in a few days, from Virginia to Florida to Texas and then to Utah. I hate the trade off of bulb life span for lumens. But for 21 bucks delivered to the door, how could I say no?

 

Ah fak, while changing the oil I found the bottom idler pulley has a metric shit load of play. I guess after well over 200k it's done. It's weird that it makes no noise. Ordered a new one from Toyota.

Road is a blast. 33 miles through redwoods park. Just gotta watch for elk. Same road I broke a ball joint on so im a little timid as of late, lol.

And yeah they're 12.50's. I get asked that a lot. 10" wide wheels help.

 

Tested the new shocks today, very happy with them. Also tore off a mudflap...

 

What are mud flaps?

 

Used it and my hi lift to break some beads on some tires I was taking to the dump.

Well, technically it's not what I did to my truck but what Toyota is doing. They've had it since Monday and should have it back in a couple weeks. Ordered some parts for it today so hopefully I have it all in by Friday to keep this moving.

 

picked up 1/8" steel and started my plates for my bumper, took all day to cut these pieces out with an angle grinder and get them to fit nicely so I'm gonna get them welded in tomorrow. still gotta make some small adjustments to fit them in better, part of it is going under the grille and the other part is sort of contoured around the body, should work out nice though

Fixed my rear oil seal leak (hopefully ha) but new bearings, seal etc. Also got new shoes on both sides! Learned a ton and am grateful for the guidance! Thanks to all that helped me on here

 

Did you replace the inner axle seal?
