okay guys dumb question here. but i figure @Sandman614 or @mrbedgood can answer. if im gonna get aftermarket lowers to match aftermarket uppers do i need new cam bolts or do they come with? and if im gonna get new ones what should i get. i heard the light racing were a no go but that moog was decent. ill probably do cam tab gussets, coil bucket gussets and maybe spindle gussets as well while im putting uppers and lowers in.

David, one no disrespect dude, you need to fix your front end before you get lowers. secondly, you need to really think are you really going to use lowers to their full extent.

Lowers are not cheap dude! to answer your question, no aftermarket LCAs do come with new cam bolts. You don't need new ones unless they are rusted and/or want come out with taking out the old ones. that is what happened to me, thankfully @Sandman614 was there to help out and take me to Toyota to get a cam bolt. What does light racing and moog have to do with cam bolts or LCAs, I don't believe either make them, if i'm wrong i'm wrong.
you don't need coil bucket gussets, unless your hitting the desert! cam tab gussets are ok, there are other ways around that, but you only need them when your cam tabs now want hold your alignment. Spindle gussets, are a good route, just to give the spindle extra strength.

But dude, you need to stop looking and start somewhere. money is the key to all of these upgrades. I'm not trying to bust your balls on here, i'm just telling you the truth. Fix your front end first.

 

lol I feel you man. I appreciate the honesty. Im job hunting to get out of my seemingly dead end job cycle. Had some bad stuff happen to me after I messed up my front end (scam, issues with billing on some things) so Im trying to recoup and finish that but also looking ahead for after thats done. Im basically gonna overhaul the whole front end suspension wise and would rather beef it for when I get the truck to where I can travel out west to the desert and places like that where I could get into hairy situations where Id be able to put them to use. LR and Moog both make sets. @Sandman614 had the spc kit i think but said they didnt hold alignment well. I saw the moogs here. Ill probably just do the spindle and cam tabs. just couldnt find a straight answer anywhere on whether or not the dirt king arms or the total chaos arms came with them.

 

Florida has some great wheeling that isn't mud. Those pictures were from Citrus Wildlife Management Area. great campground (power and showers), called Tillis Hills there, that dumps out right onto the trails.

Ocala national forest has some great trails if you like the go fast stuff.

Crooms has good trails from what I've heard, but I never made it there, as it was a bit further south.

Hard Rock is an off road park near Ocala. fun, but smaller than the public areas. good for a day trip. really no reason to camp and run it for two days at a time.

there are some old rock quarries near Ocala that have fantastic rock crawling. you need a fully armored truck to go there, and may end up with some damage. we don't talk about locations of those because they are so small and get overcrowded easily, but give "A-pit", "B-pit", "Studio 54", and "Area 51" a google and you'll find them quick enough.

right side is semi-maintained, left side is rough! great place to test your suspension. better drivers with higher end suspension could hold50+ mph through that. spacer lifts and bilsstiens/OME, were limited to about 25 before rattling your brains out.

it is sugar sand through, so if you don't have aired down, wide tires, or some decent speed, you will get stuck.



and of course with good wheeling comes good scenery.......even in florida

 

Dude just get Toyota cam bolts. They hold up and there is really no point when it comes to cam bolts why you have to go aftermarket. So your wanting to build a rig just for desert? That's a if dough right there to be spent. B/c to have a truly good desert rig you need a SUA to keep up with the front or some type of shock spring combo with controling arms going back to the rear.

 

forget SUA, go straight to links. similar effort, far better performance

 

Why not just buy a dune buggy rather than spend an insane amount of money attempting to make your truck into one?
