I'm looking to purchase bigger tires, right now I have 265/70r17 Toyo AT Open Country's which is what came on the truck when I purchased it a few months ago. I will be getting BFG KO2's and my goal is to increase my side wall height as much as possible without rubbing. I'm afraid 285's will rub so I was going to get 275/70r17's until I came across someone who had 255/75r17's. Now I'm not very familiar with tires or their sizes. So what do you guys suggest? If you have pictures of these sizes on your rig those would be nice!

The truck has Sway-away racerrunner coil overs which also came with the truck and I do not know what lift the truck has which makes it harder to ask about what tire size I should get I guess. Idk if this will help but here are some pictures to give everyone an idea of the clearance I'm trying to work with

    The 255/75 is 32"x10" LR C and weighs 47lbs.
    The 275/70 is 32.2"x11" LR E and weighs 55lbs.

In my opinion, I'd go with the 255's. They'll be easier on gas and with the LR C, you'll have a nicer ride. The .2" height difference is negligible and the cost is the same.

*All measurements are based on a BFG KO2 on TreadDepot.com.

    Also for comparison, Toyo AT's in P-metric are 31.5"x10.7", in LT-E's they're 31.7".

You could jump up to a 255/80r17 which generally measure out close to 33"x10". You'll have a much more limited selection though.

I run a Cooper AT3 275/70-17 load range C on stock 4runner sport rims and stock suspension. Zero issues and a nicely filled wheel well without the hassles most 33s bring. I prefer the look of a wide tire vs a skinny tire, so the 11" width suits me well. Whatever you do, stick with the load range "C" tire unless you REALLY NEED a load range "E".

Do you have pictures? I'm interested in running a very similar setup.

alot here will also depend on your wheel width you won't want to be any wider than 8 at the most really for the 255's here's mine with 285's and 9" wheels

and now with 255/80/17's on 8" wide wheels i started really loving the 285's for the look but love these 255's and wouldn't go back

    hope this helps a little

I'm leaning towards the 275's because I'm not sure I like the width on the 255's. However, the 275 BFG KO2's appear to only come in load range E which I don't need and would like to keep the better gas mileage...

Very helpful pictures, thank you! I've decided on the 275's
