Will do. Thanks for the link.

Same here. The more I think about it, I've never been overly pleased with the OME front setup. Love the Dakars, I'd go that route again.
In a perfect world, I'd prefer to have a 4th or 5th Gen. 4R for my DD/family hauler, and a regular cab/ext. cab 1st Gen or older Taco for when I need the truck bed. My needs don't necessitate a truck everyday, but its paid off and I can't justify the money involved in changing up vehicles.
Saggy leafs and driving on bump-stops were my motivation for the lift to begin with, not offroad prowess. OME Dakars seemed like the best solution and lifting the front was all but required. Not saying I haven't enjoyed the enhanced aesthetics and ability to run taller tires though
All said and done though, I greatly appreciate the continued help chasing this annoyance.

There wasn't anything i could see on the top. The rubber looked fine and there was no signs metal on metal contact. But there was a small area on the bottom perch that looked like a wear spot. Right by the part that slopes up. I'm pretty sure that's where my noise was coming from.

I have the exact same noise. Turned out to be the LCA bushing were torn. Does your truck go out of alignment?

It's not perfect, but not anymore out than I'd expect it to be. I have to drive over a couple sets railroad tracks daily. And I run Copper ST Maxx's which are known to pull a little on their own.

Oh wow! No my alignment isn't perfect, but doesn't require a re-alignment repeatedly. Last alignment I got was prolly 2 yrs ago when I replaced a leaking front shock and changed to larger tires/wheels.

I also have the same issue however I don't believe it is due to shocks or arms because I am running kings with a TC UCA and have taken off the LCAs with no change afterwards. I also have the same problem whether I am running the sway bar or not. I am convinced at this point that it is CV joint on the axle. I haven't replaced it yet however its next on my list and if I do it soon enough and have results I will be sure to post them here.

Also, just to make sure. Is there anyone who is having this problem on a truck that is not 4x4??

Any update same issue here. Same clunk sound from drivers side and only when turning left. I am lifted with LR UCAs new ball joints top and bottom with fresh alignment. For me tho the issue started after I had the truck on a lift doing oil change and tire rotation. I checked specs on all bolts all are good. I'm lost. The only thing left I haven't changed is the LCA bushings

884's with 5100's and LR Uca's and had the clunk. Back to the dealer because i had the frame replaced last winter and they replaced the passenger side lower control arm under warranty and the clunk is gone. Dealer said the bushing was shot.

Yes and no. Traded trucks with my dad so he could get it to a mechanic I know and trust. His guys said everything looked good, except one thing....said the passenger UCA is broken  From what my dad described, it's broken at the bushing eyelet. No clue how that could have happened. I bought them used, and installed new bushings and ball joints prior to install on the truck. I didn't notice any cracks at the time.
I've shipped them some factory UCA that they're gonna install tomorrow and get an alignment. Hope they can get it into specs with the factory arms.
I've requested the shop send the LR UCA back with the truck so I can see the break. It's pretty annoying as I thought my 'clunk' was coming from the driver side, not the passenger. But I have heard some action going on over there.
I hope to have the truck back this upcoming weekend and roll report back if the sound is gone.
Heck if the factory arms work out for me, I'll have a single LR UCA available if anyone wants a spare.

Thanks for the reply. It does to me sound like it's coming from more up top than down low. I'll give my UCA a good look tomorrow. I bought the truck with them already installed with just a leveling kit. But I replaced the baljoint in them and put a 3inch lift on. All was fine for months after install. As I said mine didn't start till I had it on my shop lift doing oil change and tire rotation. I don't wheel the truck but couldn't tell ya the history either.

Here are a couple pictures my dad sent me of my broken LR UCA. I shipped my old factory UCAs to my folks and had the shop put them back on the truck.
So pissed that two different shops, including the local Toyota dealer, were asked to check out the front suspension in search of the clunk source. Both shops said that everything looked good. Granted I didn't notice the broken arm either, but that's not my day job (at least that's my excuse).
When I get the truck back this weekend, I'll check to see if the broken arm was the source of the clunk, or if my hometown mechanic just saved my ass from a huge on road failure/accident.
I'll probably take some better pictures and reach out to Light Racing and see if they have anything to say.
I haven't put these arms through near the torture some guys on TW do. My rig spends 80% on its time on pavement, the other 20% is on forest service roads and old beat up logging roads.

5100's and 885X's with 1/2" plate spacer for 3" lift. No clunk, even when going too fast over a too big speed bump in the neighborhood where my son lives....No issues off road.

Not sure if this is an issue on tacomas (only real noise I've ever had on my front end is from me forgetting the top bushings on the coilover assembly), but on other vehicles you can get a clunk going over bumps if the LCA mount bolts are torqued up fully with the wheels off the ground.

This shouldn't be an issue after a shop alignment, though since they torque everything with the wheels carrying weight. If you do a DIY alignment without a rack you might be doing all the adjustment at droop in which case just get it back on the ground before fully torquing down the LCA cam bolts.

If the clunk is still around I might replace the front shocks with some 5100s. Or I'll just suck it up and continue living with the clunks. That or look harder at selling the truck.
Been wanting an excuse to go test drive a 3rd gen. Really dig the 5th gen T4R too.

No diff drop here. Thanks though.

wow man that's insane. i bent a pair of Light Racing UCA's and they were great with warranty. sent me a brand new pair. hopefully they do the same with you. i ended up selling them and buying some desert racing ones off of downsouth motorsports. i believe they have another boxed uca that took the desert racing one's place. good luck!
