Just wanted to try something different and see what else is out there. I could also get rid of the .75" wheel spacers with the new wheels.

Yes, definitely!

 

Yup. Passes Recon and safety without the .75" wheel spacers. Need wheel spacers to wheel the truck.

Great writeup and nice build! I appreciate the detail on the ARB diff installs. You ran your air directly to the diff, does this make the pump run constantly or do they hold pressure for some time? I was thinking an air tank install would be ideal but how has your experience been?

 

There is a pressure switch on the pump that tells it when to turn on and off. Once you turn on the compressor, it will pressurize for a second or so and turn off. The only way the pump will keep turning on is if there is a leak in the system. Mine holds pressure indefinitely. When you activate one of the lockers, the solenoid will open to send air to the locker, and the pressure switch will turn the pump on until it reaches operating pressure again. It will not turn on again until you turn one of the lockers off to release the pressure and on again to pressurize.

If the lockers are working off of the pressure in an air tank, you would need to wait for the tank to reach operating pressure and keep the tank at that pressure to keep the lockers activated.

I have no air tank, which is why my little pump takes only a second or so to pressurize.

 

So I am assuming you only use the pump for the lockers? You're not setup to inflat tires or will your setup do that?

 

Yes, my ARB compressor is purposely made to activate only the two lockers. I use a co2 tank to air up (very fast). The good thing about the locker compressor is that it is very small and I could easily fit it in the engine compartment. The wiring harness and hardware it came with made for a clean install.
