I in no way made it sound that Toyota was taking care of issues quickly or slowly. Again you trying to put the negative angry spin on it

If you're are anything like me you would regret not getting the newest technology/style that comes with buying a 16. Especially when the prices are so close. If looks, new techs don't matter to you then you can save a bit going with the 2nd Gen. They are great trucks too. Toyota stands by their vehicles. So if there is a problem with your 16 they will fix it. Thats one of the main reasons most of us are on this Toyota forum. As for my 16 TRD Sport I could not be any happier with my purchase. I absolutely love the truck and have had no problems (only ~2000 miles so far)

You should be able to get that 2016's price down some too. I paid less than that for my 16 TRD Sport 4x4 with a few more upgrades new. Call some smaller dealers and see if they have any 16s left on the lot.

Get the 2017 and don t worry about anything.. Stay away from the ridgeline . It looks to be on the road not offroad.

    OP,
I suggest test driving both 2nd and 3rd gen since you are trying to decide. For me, the high prices of the used 2nd gen trucks were too close to a new 3rd gen, so I went new. I love the looks, feel, fit and performance of my 2016 TRD OR 4x4. Yes, I have had some issues, but other than the low tranny fluid that has since been corrected, none have been serious. I love this truck. The tranny TSB took care of the wonky shifting and hesitation, so I am fine with how it drives. I realistically know that issues on a brand new model may come up, but so far, Toyota has taken care of me. I don't regret buying this truck at all.
