Eh, paying cash. $20k is not chump change, but seeing how much $$$ people/dealers are asking (and apparently paying) for older Tacomas in worse shape/higher miles I think it's a decent deal. I know it sounds like I am trying to talk myself into it... did not really plan on buying "damaged goods" indeed, but then I hate overpaying for "worn goods" as well. Here are some pics of the damage (one of these pics really sucks).

Sounds like a good deal. How good depends on specific options like V6 or 4-cyl? 4X4 or 2WD? 4- or 5-Spd AT?

    V6 4x4 5AT. Are there 2WD TRD sports? I thought all are 4x4.

That's a very fair point, thanks. I'll have another look before finalizing the deal.

In that case, congrats on what sounds like very good deal!

I recently learned the TRD Sport package is available on both 4x4s and (2WD) PreRunners, but not (2WD) 5-Lugs.

Indeed that sucks. At least Sport is available with stick. I plan on DCSB O/R for the future 3rd gen purchase, so I should be ok.

I got ridiculously lucky with mine, I was just about to close on a 2002 5spd AC TRD and I had to put the purchase off until I got my insurance check. A week went by and I returned and saw my truck sitting in front. 2011 AC TRD OR 6spd with less than 19,000 miles. 45 minutes later I drove it off the lot for 24k

After reading this thread I feel like I got super lucky! Last year I bought a new (17 miles on it) 2015 DCSB TRDOR 6MT for $30,500. There happened to be two in my area that were identical I pit the two dealerships against each other for the sale. Both were trying to make room before the '16s showed up.

I got lucky with mine too, I bought mine in August last year and it took them 3 weeks to finally find another Dealer that was willing to give up one.

So... change of plans last minute. On our way to finalize the deal for the blue TRD Sport... we found and bought this instead.

2012 T/X Baja (still an auto :goingcrazy:), 50k miles, pristine condition, not a scratch on it - rust free, all stock and clearly a mall crawler. Still under Toyota powertrain warranty till mid next year, but also came with 12k/12month basic, 7k/100k miles powertrain aftermarket warranty. $23,100+tax/reg. Including the difference in the doc fee between the dealers, came to $2.5k more than the somewhat molested 2013 TRD Sport. 2012 but only 6 months longer on the road than the 2013 (and same number of winters). Seems to be worth it. Love the red. Don't love the graphics, it's gaudy somewhat but, cool in some weird way as well. I like the TRD exhaust.

Actually it's going to be wifey's ride. I love her dearly that she digs driving something like that :)

I guess I need to start a proper intro thread...

I'm sure it looks good in person, but in a pic it looks like spilt black paint all over it. Or some teenage did some body work.

The red is pretty sweet. The decals do peel off. Get yourself a heat gun.

I think we'll keep them. One thing it's what it is, the plan is to keep it stock, also I'd be worried that the paint might have faded and the decals would live visible "ghost".

Test an area in an innocuous location first. If no fade then I'd say send it.

The Baja suspension is pretty sweet!!! Is your backup cam in the rear view mirror? Self dimming, w/ homelink and compass? Clock in the dash? Lots of folks post MY12/MY13 lost those standard options. Suckers.

Yes on all these. I like the radio with VFD display much better than the LCD (touch screen?) business the 2013 TRD had.

I had a MY12 that got smacked by a semi and totaled and replaced it with a MY13.

In my opinion the stereo in the 13, especially the Bluetooth function and the steering wheel controls were much better than the 12.

Fewer nanny features in regards to the Bluetooth / paired phone function on the 13 as well.

Both had the backup camera displays in the rear view...where it should be.

    My $0.02.
