The original plan this weekend was to stay at Lake Isabel Friday night, then head to Medano Pass and camp in the dunes area on Saturday (I've never been there). Sunday was open, but I was thinking to try out Hermit and Hayden Passes.

But life couldn't give two fucks about what I want.

So we were sitting in traffic, halfway between Castle Rock and the Springs when I noticed an odd sound whenever I accelerated or stopped. Why were we sitting in traffic? Because some shithead--or a multitude of shitheads--caused a crash and so there we sat. For the first time in weeks, my stereo was off because we were having a riveting conversation about chicken nuggets or some such thing. Since it was so quiet, I could hear and feel the clunking and grinding from the front of the truck. Once we made it to the Springs, I checked things out but couldn't find anything wrong on initial inspection. Nonetheless, we decided to turn back.

I thought that the weekend was a bust. I refused to sit around the house, so I made the command decision to show my usual co-pilot on my adventures some basic off-roading skills. We took his 5th gen 4-Runner up to Bunce School Road.

    Right before the entrance.

    Bunce 214.jpg

We were just on this road.

    Fall is here.

    Look at that flex.

    Bunce 238.jpg

    Bunce 245.jpg

    Bunce 248.jpg

I can only assume the damage I witnessed in this area was caused by the floods 3 years ago.

Bunce School. Surprisingly underwhelming. Surrounded by private property and close to the highway.

    On the way back.

As per usual, we saw more wildlife near civilization than far from it.

The wife and I along with a couple friends headed up to Boreas Pass this past weekend. It had lots of color to offer! Probably a week left of it up there.
