Anybody have any idea why my radio volume mutes for no reason??? Happens, 1 time out of 5, when I back out of my car port. No, I'm not hitting the "mute" button by accident, as my dealer suggested. As soon as I start to turn it up, it's back where I left it. Lately the entire screen has been shutting down and doesn't want to come back on. === Any thoughts from your tech savvy folks?? Brought it in 12/15, only 5500 miles.

Sounds like the radio is randomly losing power. Is anything else shutting down at the same time?
Stock radio? Has it always done this?

Hard to believe that such a new vehicle would be having electrical issues like this.

If you'll do some searching in the 3rd gen forum, you'll find a few threads like this one. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2016-stock-radio-problems.400217/page-2#post-13016492

While not address muting, it does rebooting. Which is what you may be now experiencing?

At any rate, it does point to the fact there are issues with the units.

It will be easier for them to diagnose once it gets bad enough they see it not work. Because they don't really diagnose things like this. They just replace the part.

It started muting about 3 or 4 months ago, with in the last 2 weeks it's started to shutting down and taking it's sweet ass time turning back on. On- off button takes several tries before it'll come on. I doubt if the dealer will do anything if he can't see the problem. All I use is FM radio & GPS has been used 4 or 5 times. Unless some of you more techie guy know something, I'll have to wait until it quits forever.

Applies to a lot of 2014/2015s. Fixes many different issues. Free from dealer if vehicle is less than 3 yrs./36K miles:

Thanks, Hopefully my service writers know what I'm talking about when I take it in. Dash looks the same.
Mine's a 2016, only 5,500 miles, should be covered under warranty.

The TSB applies to some 2014/2015 Toyota models. Yours is a 2016. The service writer will likely say this fix does not apply and it may not. Your 2016 is a 3rd Gen; 2014/2015 are 2nd Gen. Good luck getting it repaired.
