So I have a 16 OR DCSB. Turned over 15k miles. Love this truck but recently I've been getting a buzzing sound from behind the glove compartment. Tried to slap the shit out of it which seems to change the buzzing sound. It's super annoying during Off-roading or on dirt roads.

That one might be the one with the wire harness issue. There's a post in the 3rd gen forum about it. I think it was named "dash rattle noise" or something to that extent. Some are at the A-pillar to speaker cover and another stated wire harness behind G-box.

Sounds more like something rattling to me. Maybe speaker?

I had this same, exact issue (one of MANY) with my 2016 OR DCSB. That truck was such a P-O-S that I got rid of it with barely more than 8,000 miles on the odometer.
I have attached an invoice on which this problem is documented. Supposedly the Toyota field technician dispatched from Saint Louis to look at my P-O-S was able to duplicate the problem, but did nothing to solve it and claimed it "went away and has not been heard since . . . ." With service like that (as well as the selling dealership) addressing the myriad of issues that truck had I took losses and got rid of the truck.

I was lied to by the selling dealership and Toyota Corporate. I am simply waiting for a recall on the first year of the Gen 3, Tacoma "upgrade" and I will be first in line to file a fraud case against this non-customer caring corporation.

Good luck on actually getting anything done by service on your issue. With the invoice I have attached you have proof this is an issue with the truck and not some issue fabricated by you. I would suggest you demand it be alleviated or pursue further action.

It's louder with the Glove door open. I've tried taking everything out. Same issue. Sounds like plastic on plastic.

Sorry to hear about the problems. I've been happy with mine. Couple small things. Also I am on Kodiak island. No dealers. I'd have to ferry it to Anchorage to get anything done.

Hey OP - I think there's something in the box that holds the cabin filter. I'd try and get the cabin filter out and see if there's something stuck moving around in there ... try recirculate first ... maybe its just air moving thru so crap that got stuck inside where the cabin filter is.

The sound is almost like an electrical thing to me not something that is mechanical. OR something got into the vent system... still sounds electrical to me... like intermittent short, say a speaker cable came loose and is in contact with metal frame.

I pulled the plastic shelf out of the glove box and threw it away. Try taking it out. It will go right back in. Never saw the above post suggesting the same...

Check Out My Build Thread :)
I've seen somewhere on the forum (cannot remember the name) that had the same issue and it was caused by the small gap between the top of the dash and the A pillar on the passenger side... the member stuck a few toothpicks in there to see if it resolved the issue and it ended up working for him. I would just get some note cards or tooth picks and wedge them in there to see if it eliminates the issue and if so make a more appealing solution like a rubber seal or felt to make it a permanent solution... hope this helps!

I've done that fix, but the noise in the video is still there. I believe it is the wiring harness below the glove box, but I have been too lazy to try a fix yet.

Yeah I'll check out the harness. I'll try to do something about it tomorrow. I will also check the gap between the pillar and dash.

I have precisely the same noise as the OP. My dealer is ordering me a new glove box door which they think will solve the problem. I'll let you know if it works.

New glove box door helped but did not solve issue. Going to see what the dealership had to say. ..
