Anyone running King suspension? Do you think the compression adjustment option is worth the extra $500?

I commute daily with my truck. It will see occasional rock crawling trips, and maybe once a month running in the desert.

Are the off the shelf settings on the non-adjustable King shocks adequate for the types of terrains we have around SoCal?

I don't have my Kings on yet, but I ordered mine without it. For what you're describing your usage it doesn't seem like you really need it though. Put that 500 to a better set of UCAs

If you're looking for compression adjustment the fox Dsc is a far better option as it allows for both high speed and low speed compression adjustments. Which makes a much bigger difference than just a single adjustment.

I have king compression adjusters on my rear shocks. They work ok, but would work a lot better with stock springs since that's what king valves them for. If the shocks aren't valved for your specific springs the compression adjusters will make little to no difference. They are more of a bling item than anything. I'd with go fox(which are bad ass, and I'm a king guy) or I would bother with the adjusters

I would only get em for long travel. Just my opinion. I use my kings on all terrains. Go fast desert and rock crawling and can't see myself ever needing to adjust.

How are the King suspension compared to the Baja suspension? I am moving on from my TX Baja suspension as well. Do you need to run extended brake lines?

I rock the Kings with adjusters too.. Adjusters are mostly fine tuning but as @glorifiedwelder mentioned the valving is important.
I like the Fox option with dual adjustments too.

They actually make even less sense in the long travel world. All they all is a valve that limits oil flow between the resivoir and the shock. They actually hurt the performance of the shock. That's why long travel guys run bypasses so they can tune specific zones of the shocks travel and not affect the rest of the shocks performance. We could obviously get more technical in this talk but I think covering this generically will due.

valving is the key to good performance, but getting it right isn't easy.

I didn't extend my lines and I have the dakar pack 2.75". Me and buddy flexed everything and it's all good. Maybe that edition came with larger ones..:notsure:
I'm still learning long travel before I pull the trigger next year. I figured you would want and adjuster on the front coilover shocks to really get it right. I have not researched enough to really know though.

That's what the secondary bypass is for. Your coil over is essentially a coil carrier with minimal valving done to it. The bypass will allow you to tune multiple zones allowing the suspension to be supple but ramp up at the very end of its travel so it doesn't bottom out. When you get ready for lt shoot me a pm. I'm a dk and TC vendor

Chances are the buyer of the kit used a shock with a different spec than the dk shock. The shock spec'd by the 4x4 would work just fine on the 2wd. You can get away with a shock that isn't spec'd correct on the 2wd kit because you dont need the longer lower rod end used to clear the front axle. I'd need a picture of the shock to tell you exactly where it's off. Often times people run a cheaper non custom spec'd shock on 2wd kits because they have more room than the 4wd.

I'm running c/o's off a 2wd dk kit on my TC +3.5 race kit. They work fine, but have a slightly shorter overall length than the standard tc c/o required for the 4wd kit. I did so so I could gain bump travel and fine tune the suspension travel on my truck as my truck is setup lower than most long travel Tacoma's traditionally are. It was definetly more work, but for my style of driving it was worth it.
