Hey guys so I bought this truck with my tax return and got a little in over my head but am proudly turning this project around. When I got the truck it smelled like a dog house and claimed it used to be a farm truck. The kid claimed it was his uncles and was given to him...as I have it now the carpet is trashed the seats are out of an 80s Celica and mounting holes were drilled in the floor carelessly. Ac condenser is cut and removed...the air filter was panty hose....valve cover jb welded... Front springs are cut, rear has lowering blocks. And ebrake cables are cut and missing the parking brake lever that the cables connect to mounted 0n the frame...God knows why???

My plans for this truck are for it to be my weekend warrior for when I go out of town to race vintage motocross.

Things I have upgraded/plan to upgrade: 4Runner bucket seats(eventually want to trade for 60/40 bench so the wife can nap...), new carpet, condenser and compressor for a/c, 4Runner air box with custom intake and deck plate mod, 15x10 steel rims

Things I need(donations?): stock 5 lug Tacoma springs, stock 5 lug rear u bolts. 15x10 steel rims, parking brake cables and lever under bed.

I am currently in the process of welding all the holes shut so no moisture enters the cab. The carpet is torn out and I am fitting the 4 runner seats. I am using the legs from the bench seat and drilling the rivets out and welding the legs in place. The front inner mounts in the 2nd gen 4Runners are the same as first gen tacos the front outer brackets from the bench can be used to fit and the outer rear should be moved to the inner rear and welded jb place. The only bracket that needs to be fabricated is the outer rear. I will post detailed pictures later. Personally for the fabricated bracket I just cut a section out of one of the unused brackets to make it work!image.jpg

Forgot to mention I am also using a heavy duty rust preventative paint to prevent any rust from spreading. I will also apply it to any metal that was welded as that is usually the first to rust.

Located in Knoxville tn. I'm willing to pay shipping, the best way to ship big pieces of metal is fed ex. Just tape them together so the coils are secure you don't even have to box them. Ups may do it that way too.

Update! So i ended up finding a guy who was parting out a taco and he gave me a mint condition bench seat, whole rear axel with parking brake cables, front springs, and stock u bolts all for 150. I also went to a local junkyard and was able to salvage a 4 runner air box which bolts to a Tacoma perfectly and scavenged for some air boots off of different cars including Kia's, 2j Toyota, and an impala, yes a Chevrolet. After plugging some unnecessary holes it works awesome! Will post pics soon.

Your cold air intake is sucking in air right off your exhaust manifold. Did it not have an intake tube when you bought it?

No this is how I bought it. But I have built a great intake with the 4Runner air box since I bought the truck. Will post pics tonight.

Thanks guys! I know I keep promising pictures and forgetting but they are coming! She's running like a top. Just drove her downtown to see my sister. I'm getting code though  apparently a p0135 which looks to be most likely a stuck open thermostat, p401 which is insufficient EGR flow and a bad o2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1. Great news is I already have a new bung and o2 sensor from when I had my 92 pickup a few years ago. So that will be welded in soon. I took the EGR off to see if the port to the intake was clogged and the last guy USED A SOLID PIECE OF CARDBOARD as a gasket....no hole or anything....people.... Anyway I bought two new gaskets and scraped the old one off. No more EGR code! More updates to come. Also last weekend I put the new rear axle in she's running like a freak just need to get rid of the O2 sensor code and the coolant code. I've been watching the gauge.

Ok, so far, you've found cardboard gaskets and panty hose air filters? Cant wait to see what else has crept in there!

Like maybe string for a throttle cable.
Use 'search' and see how rear springs from a 6-lug can be used. More of them out there.

You have no idea....this kid was a complete idiot. Idk how the market is where you all are but here in the mountains you can't find a taco for less than 3k no matter the condition. I had a t100 that got totalled and then got a Toyota pickup. I liked the size of the pickup but didn't like the 22re. No power. So when I found this taco for 1500 I jumped on it. Got lucky and have found lots of parts trucks to put it all together. When I got it I found 22 dollars in change scattered about the truck, cut springs panty hose air filter blocked EGR no ac system, All sorts of dumb stickers, with a plug wire completely Broken so cyl 1 fired intermrenly. He claimed it was the throttle body needing to be cleaned but I could tell somethings easy just needed to be replaced. .... It was bad when I got it.
