First of all, I just want to preface that I fell in love with these side steps the first moment that I saw them. I couldn't wait to get them installed on my 2013 DCLB. The love/hate relationship comes in with the Installation as first noted by @AuburnTacomaTRD . Getting the three brackets onto the truck was a breeze. Now I had the benefit of using a jack with a crossbar to hold these in place as I was bolting them onto my truck. If you don't have one, you are going to swear, struggle, and want to throw things because of frustration due to the fact of how heavy they are.
    20160430_155102.jpg
OK........a couple of pros and cons

    Pros
    1. They are sturdy as hell.
    2. The directions are somewhat straight forward
    3. The packaging they came in was COMPLETELY protected in every way to make sure that they come to you dent and scratch free.
    4. Personally I think that they look great
    5. They really don't impede that much ground clearance, the exhaust and frame crossmember are lower then the steps.

CONS - And they are a couple of BIG ones
    1. Due to them being so heavy, installation can be a BEAR!
    2. The brackets inside the steps themselves are SO small that you need a 6 year old size hand to get the bolt in there.
    3. The steps do not seat flush up to the bottom of the truck. No matter what you do the bracket won't allow that. Just kind of disappointed in this.
    4. They don't come in LB versions. Kind of a Buzz kill. I called them and their engineers don't have any plans on making them in LB.....only DCSB versions. A third step would have been nice at the back.
    5. Ok, HUGE con here........the hardware that they give you is utter and complete SHIT! They give you two kinds of bolts. M8 1.25 x 30mm class 8.8 bolts to attach the brackets to the truck. These are going to be tightened down to 20 FT/LBS (No problems with that.) The real problem is the M8 1.25 x 25mm class 8.8 bolts to attach the steps to the brackets. The directions stated that I needed to tighten them down to 30 FT/LBS. Before I was able to fully tighten them, two of the bolt snapped like twigs. I went to Home depot and replaced them with 5/16 x 1 inch Grade 8 bolts and they tightened up nicely. I used 2 different torque wrench's, one of which was brand new so I know it was calibrated correctly. Broke one bolt on each. It really sucks that I had to go and buy hardware and spend more money just to make sure That they were at 30 FT/LBS. It is kind of funny because the directions actually expressly say not to use any other hardware other then the ones that came in the package. If they wanted us to torque down to 30 FT/LBS, then give us the DAMN bolts that can handle that pressure!
    20160430_155341.jpg
All in all, I still love them and they compliment the matte black/rigid theme that I will be creating.

@crashngiggles They look great on your truck, when I saw the post I cringed to see what situations you encountered along the way. On a side note, I am about to get some BFG K02's and was curious about what size you ended up going with on your truck, the tire size fills the wheel wells nicely. What size did you go with there?

I went with the 265/70/17's. I did not put a lift on my truck as of yet but am planning on it. The 265/70/17 is a good tire for both a lift and non-lift. It is the biggest tire that you can pretty much fit without rubbing without a lift but still looks good with one. If I put the lift on first, I would have gone with the 275/70/17, but then I would've told myself that it would've been too heavy of a tire and stayed with the 265. I see exactly what you meant about trying to fit the inside the bracket. It was absolute hell. Were you able to torque any of the hardware down to 30 foot-pounds without breaking them?

@crashngiggles thank you, the ones I think I am going to go with are the 265/75r16 on my stock OR rims.
The bolts on the frame, as you mentioned, were easy to torq to spec. The others are, "around 30". We got them all to about 25 pounds and I was nervous they were going to break under pressure. So all 6 of the other ones on each step have about 25-28 ft pounds on them. Due to the other frustrations on the installation, I left this fact out. But yes, I had the same problem.

Now that they have been installed, I have a new problem, they look off-road, and my tires say passenger vehicle. lol. So thats where the tires are coming in. I thought about new rims, but cant seem to find any that I like against my color, more than the stock ones.

Had the same issue of the bolts with their steps for the Tundra, broke on torquing, got higher grade. Those little bolts are not rated for 30 ft/lbs about 15 max

I just bought a set of these. I got them for 314.10 to my door. If I got to buy better bolts it freaking sucks. But I did get a hell of a deal on them. They look good on you truck.

So how many bolts would you recommend I buy and what size . I rather get them now then be in middle of putting them on and start having issues that would just piss me off.

Honestly, separate, sort and count each bolt in the package. Then go out to home Depot, and bring one of each kind with you. Ask the hardware guy to show you the size of them and ask him to get you the same ones in grade 8.

They look cool n all, but mounting to the body worries me tons, especially for something big and bulky like that. I woulda dented the shit out of my body / ripped those off with those on yesterday on a lil 5 min off road excursion.

This is why if you are going to go offroad.....either have a decent lift or only do some light offroadding. Other than that go with sliders.

Sounds like you need rock sliders. The only good thing these would protect you from is door dings from douche bags in parking lots.

It should be considered a pro that they don't sit flush against the bottom of the truck. It would likely wear through the paint and rust out immediately.

True.....but it would be nice if they were more angled upwards.

Don't get me wrong......I love the look.....especially on an all blacked out truck. The only problem was the hardware.

Just installed mine. Due to hard headedness, I snapped 4 of the bolts. Wish I would have read this post prior.

I received my steps today , so if I go 20lbs of torque on the body brackets and 25 on the steps I should be okay , correct ?

Trust me, do yourself a favor, and just take all of your bolts and nuts over to Home Depot and get replacements for all of The hardware that was given in the bag that he came with in a grade 8 Or harder. Do not, I repeat, do not use the bolts that are given. They will not tighten down to the torque specs That they are supposed to in the directions without breaking. Also make sure that you have a small wire brush to clean out some rust that might be in the thread holes of the truck. If you have a gun cleaning kit, you can use that.
