Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
How does the 2016 handle hills? Always wondered how the newer trucks fared compared to the old ones. My 3.4 V6 does just fine, although I never really push it that hard up big hills because I hate when it kicks down two gears and races the engine real hard to maintain speed.

The one thing I don't like about my 1st gen is that I don't have it anymore. I miss that truck.

2016 does 80MPH up the hill, no issues. I can drive it in the fast lane. The 2001 we have, I drive it the 3rd lane, because unless it kicks down a few gears, it drops it down to 60mph and is wheezing going up the local grades

I don't like the fact that someone else owns it now.

    improved toyota goodness.
all this complaining about the cup holders and it strikes me as funny that mine are full of change and used earplugs and haven't held a single drink in over 3 yrs... no complaints so far! well i suppose that the 5 foot bed requiring me to move all the dirty climbing gear into the cab in order to sleep my 5' 11'' corner to corner might count...

Drums on these are more than capable. They are actually bigger than full size truck drums of the time. And they last longer with pretty much no maintenance. With brake proportioning valve not adjusted properly the truck will lock rear wheels no problem.

The plastic seat sides that open up, and I guess the A/C could be better even though I don't use it, and I guess parts and accessories are harder to find, but not really the truck's fault. Everything else is literally perfect.

I love the cupholders as they're different sizes for different things (not always for cups)

When I first got this taco, beginning of summer, coastal Virginia hot and humid, the a/c wasn't cutting it. PO had told me he had never had a prob with it and had never added refrigerant, etc. I could tell it was all original. So no accidents, which can affect the lines, etc. I didn't have my tools, so I took a guess and bought the can of r-134 that had the guage and filler hose attached. To my delight, when I attached the gauge showed it was low on refrigerant. Added refrigerant until it was close to full pressure. Would get so cold, even on hottest days, I had to run on lowest fan speed with a/c on max cold. Made me a happy camper.

Haven't even checked the refrigerant lol...I normally roll with windows down to save gas anyway but I may give that a shot before next summer

The stock seats for me do not support my lower back. I'm relatively tall though. I think i will be swapping my buckets out one of these days.

I call dibs on the buckets! If they're gray or blue gray or whatever that color is called.

except for the 16's and muffler, it's plane jane.
Greetings all. My first post here. I've been lurking for a month or two as research for purchasing my first Tacoma. You were all very helpful, thank you. I've been a Jeep Cherokee driver for the past 20 years and as much as I loved my Jeeps, there is just no comparison to how enjoyable owning this Tacoma is. Anyway, the one very minor thing that I don't like is that a wrench is necessary to remove the tailgate. Would love it to be a tool-free process.
