I am planning on getting a 2.5-3" lift on my truck and I'm having trouble deciding on the size, and brand of tires. I am planning on getting 16x8 wheels and choosing between 265/75r16 and 285/75r16 tires and KO2, Toyos ATII, or Duratracs. Also, throw some opinions out there on lift kits. Between Rough Country, maybe ToyTec (ALSO I AM TRYING TO NOT SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ~$1800 BETWEEN TIRES AND LIFT)

Old Man Emu has a solid lift for ~$1000. With 265 you won't feel much difference in the gearing, at 285 you'll definitely feel like you're needing something a little shorter. I personally think a 285 is too big for the type of lifts we put on these trucks, sans a long travel kit, unless you're also getting new fenders. You could also go with a standard size 32" tire which is right between the two but IMO is still a hair too tall for stock gears.

Haven't used any of those tires but I'd go with the KO2's cause they look the best. I think the Toyo's are more of a street tire so you might be able to run a larger diameter without changing gears.

    I'd go 265/75/16 which I believe is a 32" tall tire.

I have 15" rims and went with 31" duratracs as they looked way more aggressive than the ko2's.
    Just my opinion

Do you think you could fit 33x12.50 r15 on a 2.5 lift? Or would it be the same result as a 285

You always "can" it's just a question of what you're sacrificing. If your heart is set on 33" then just do it. You'll need to trim some fender and have a couple extra inches of back spacing in your wheels but it's definitely doable.

    FYI 265 is 31.6" and 285 is 32.8"

Probably the best info you'll ever get th SE trucks don't want anything more than 31's or there a little unhappy , I enjoy my tire size at 32 cause I drive on the highway a lot and I get better MPG at 75mph with 32's than I was with my stock tires and I don't notice tires at all with the truck bed loaded down I actually find more uses for the larger tires than problems I have with wanting more power

A 32x11.5x15 bfg ko2 is 31.5 according to bfg. I was referring to standard 32" reply

They teach you to round up to the nearest inch in machining? Dear god I need to invest in my own CNC machine.

mostly to the nearest 100th, some blue prints do go much farther down bust mostly for aerospace

never round to the nearest inch? they make you round to the nearest inch in tire size

no idea where i said they round to the nearest inch for CNC

I was joking. I know how to round.

I was simply stating 265/75/16 is actually taller than a 32" standard size tire

I've been looking at the toyo open country rt since they make it in a 265/75/16.

I've been looking at 285/75/16s. From my research, they may rub a bit at full lock with a 3". Also, the lightest tire you find in that size is a load range D, most are loess range E. That, plus the size, will suck power. A 33" tire is fine on stock v6 gearing, I know someone who ran 35s on stock gears

As someone who values performance and efficiency I have to say your last statement is entirely false but you do you.

It won't do as well as factory, but most of the first gen v6s have 4.10 gears. That's fine for 33s. Your factory tires are about a 32, you're not going to notice a huge difference.
