Ive been looking into power upgrades for the 2.7l tacoma and found that the only way to get noticeable power gains is to turbocharge or supercharge. I like the idea of the turbo but i have a few questions. Will my truck still suffer with 3.73 gears with a turbo? i dont plan on going bigger than 32" tires. Should i buy a kit like the Lce kit or Ko racing kit or piece together my own kit? What kind of fuel and electronic upgrades would i need for 5-7 psi. And what size turbo would be best? i want decent low end power but better top end, my truck is SLOW! i almost have enough saved up for the lce engineering kit. Thanks for the help.

The LCE kits are proven and well contructed. Can be had a la carte, or all inclusive. Plus contain the advice of what it takes to meet specific power goals.

I say go with them. No need to really worry about the gear ratios, unless you are really fine tuning your setup.

Another thing to look at from them, is the counter balance shaft removal kit. Then have a detailed video of the proceedure.

3rz can compensate fuel for upwards of 10psi with pink top injectors and the FPR to a boost referenced point

The KO kit is also pretty nice however they are built to order and the lead time on them may take longer than the LCE kit. I'm sure either will work well for you. I'm using pink top injectors, Walboro 190 pump, and the FPR connected to a boost only port at 8psi intercooled and I haven't had any problems so far. I have a sort of a build thread if you care to check it out. Some of it may be helpful to you.

I thought about going with a bolt on kit but for the cost I was able to intercool and get the materials needed to build an exhaust as well. It took ALOT longer though then a bolt on kit would have. The most time consuming part is dropping your diff and oil pan for the return line. Other than that, it's mostly unbolting and removing the exhaust and intake parts and replacing them with the turbo parts.
